I volunteered to work at the US Open.........

Agreed with Joe.  $160 and a week of your time.  Cost went to cover the clothes/swag.  I ended up deciding against it because I didnt want to take an entire week of vacation.

Yowser Dan!  At least your volunteer credentials gets you on the grounds any day you wish.

I feel fortunate to be working 3 shifts as a walking scorer.  And on Sunday I'm on the 1 PM shift.  So I have that going for me, which is nice.

I'm working 4 shifts, as a hole marshal (hole #1).

One very well organized event (from my observation) ... and REALLY looking forward to it.

Thanks Joe and Dan,  I heard someone say it was $300 which I though sounded a bit high so was curious to verify with someone in the know.

I'll be working #8 Friday morning, #10 Saturday afternoon and #14 Sunday afternoon.  I am a leaderboard captain.

Joe - as a former Committee Chair, I can confirm how lucky you were to be given that assignment.  Might be the toughest assignment to get.

Knew that was coming.
My information is of course 35 years old, so who knows if it's accurate.
When I worked the scoreboards at Augusta, we were not required to PAY $160 for a uniform as the USGA requires.
We were patd a $7 per day per diem, which was for lunch, etc.
Very hard to spend $7 in concessions at Augusta in 1980 (.50 Cokes, $1.00 sandwiches)
Perhaps things have changed...

I'm just always amazed that the USGA requires volunteers to pay for their uniforms, the Men's US Open is one thing, but other events not so much.

I can understand making volunteers pay for their kit but then refund them per shift, surely after four shifts the kit should be free.
