4th Annual Midwest Mashie - The Kingsley Club!
« on: April 01, 2013, 06:13:53 PM »
UPDATE:  ENTRY FORM CAN BE FOUND AT THE FOLLOWING LINK:
http://www.kingsleyclub.com/userfiles/file/Midwest%20Mashie%20Entry.pdf

-----------------------------------------

Gentlemen,

A new year is upon us and that means another "Midwest Mashie" is as well.  Many thanks to Matt Sander for taking the reins for the 2012 Midwest Mashie held on a couple nice Indiana tracks.  From what I was told, the event was a great success.

As for the 2013 iteration, we'll be heading back to Michigan to the cult-classic Kingsley Club.  The club has been generous enough to offer us up a weekend this fall to house our annual grudge match between the east and west teams.

There will be more details to come over the following months (including a formal entry form with a small deposit); however here are the main items:

Where:
The Kingsley Club, Kingsley, MI

When:
Saturday and Sunday, September 28th & 29th, 2013

Golf:
Round 1 – Saturday afternoon (2pm Shotgun) – Best Ball Teams
Round 2 – Sunday morning (9am Shotgun) – Singles or Team Alternate Shot

Dinner:
Saturday evening after play at the clubhouse

Cost:
$200 for walkers
$230 for riders

This fee includes the two rounds of golf and dinner on Saturday evening (not including alcoholic beverages)

A la carte items:
- Additional rounds (Sat AM or Sun PM) - $50/round
- Additional meals can be purchased at the clubhouse
- A limited number of caddies can be made available – will require coordination with the club

Lodging:
In addition to the multitude of options in and around Traverse City, the Kingsley Club has made available two on-site cottages with a total of 8 rooms and 16 beds (each room has two queen beds and its own bathroom).  The club has also generously opened its River Camp to our group (off-site but close) which has two 1-bed rooms and a third with 3 sets of bunk beds.

Cottages:
Single Occupancy - $155
Double Occupancy - $100

River Camp:
Single room (2 avail) - $120
Bunkroom bed (6 avail) - $60

**Lodging Reservations Now Open**
Call the club at 231-263-3000 (between 10am-4pm); $20 deposit per night is required to secure lodging.  Let the club know it is for the Midwest Mashie.

In, with cottage rental (presumably sharing a room with someone).  Also, the River Camp bunk room actually sleeps six, as in there are three bunk beds, each with an upper and lower bunk.  Sleeps a total of eight.  And I'll leave it up to the staff, but the River Camp could probably sleep an extra couple guys, as that couch is fairly comfortable, and there are a couple recliners.  The only thing that could be an issue is if this is the same weekend as the DeVries Cup, which I kinda had my heart set on this year.

George, if there's anything I can do to help, don't hesitate to ask.

A super venue for a great event.

In. With a shared cottage, double occupancy room if possible.

In with double room!  Finally a decent track for the Mashie... ;D Let me know if I can help George.  I can bring the Greenbush and Founders en route!  Just remember that Bill and I are the Hi/Lo Ham and Egg kids...

Count me in. I've been waiting for the chance to seek revenge for the East for a few months now.

I'm happy to share a cottage room or bunk at the River Camp depending on how things shake out. I'm flexible.

I won't miss two years in a row.  Count me in.

I'd like to stay in either the cabins or River Camp Friday and Saturday nights.  I'd be up for 36 on Saturday for sure and walking the whole time.

Thanks for getting all the details together.  I'm looking forward to September already!

I've got to get redemption for my performance last year.

Sunday evening 6some again?

For sure!

There are a lot of courses worth seeing within an hour or two as well. I could definitely see a Friday or Saturday early round at a place like Arcadia. I'm not sure when I'll get back to that neck of the woods. It might be too early to plan that stuff now, but we should keep it on the radar.

That was a blast. Even if you did out drive me and Jud by 100 yards each hole and we all made a mess out of #16.

Eric Smith and I are in and we'll be sharing a room in a cottage.

Boom.
I get it, you are mad at the world because you are an adult caddie and few people take you seriously.

Excellent spellers usually lack any vision or common sense.

I know plenty of courses that are in the red, and they are killing it.

Howard,  I unfortunately don't feel very sorry for you as I recall you and Jud walking out with the most money in your pockets!

All I know is we have to get back at Bill for taking advantage of the bloodbath #16 gave us.

Coach Fitz and the mighty Wildcats appear to be off that weekend, so in at this point -- hopefully I can finally get a chance to see what everyone's always raving about.

Wondering if Sept is late enough in the year for a side trip to Crystal Downs to be arranged?

I'll sleep in a single or a double, no preference -- tho I'm told that I'm a scratch snorer (and a mediocre player)!

You may be able to have your pro arrange a game at the Downs unaccompanied, but it'd probably have to be on Friday and maybe only Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday and probably 1 foursome at best.  Personally I'd be potentially interested in a game at Belvedere or Black Forest as I've yet to see either.
