I guess I'm going to use this thread to post results. Due to the KP I don't have the time to upload all the supplemental data until late Sunday, so I can post the final scores only and let you guys discuss or just wait and get everything out there. If anyone is desperate for answers let me know, otherwise expect something Sunday evening (you've waited so long, what's another couple days?)

Seriously though, sorry for the delay, but the judges have provided/will provide some great feedback. Rather than give them the more ceremonial introduction that they deserve, I will share that Tommy Naccarrato, Mike Nuzzo, and Ron Whitten were the esteemed judges. Please direct any and all complaints toward them come Sunday.  ;)

Thanks to all you guys for your patience and participation. This has been a really fun, though at times trying contest, but I definitely feel like I'm coming away with more knowledge than before. I have no doubt that AAC IV, whenever that occurs, will improve on this contest/exercise.

Thanks again Alex, for me, am happy to wait until everything can go up.

I am now even more embarrassed with my submission with your judging panel reveal. Very impressive panel and thanks very much to the judges for their efforts also.

Sunday May 5th is almost over. ???

Alex would tell us who won, but he can't remember the name.

Apparently it wasn't Alex Miller, because that is one name he can remember.

A very busy day and weekend and I don't have everything ready to upload, but maybe that is for the best as each contestant can share what they want in their own thread. I hope this thread could sustain commentary that compares courses to one another, and as more finalist threads come up I think some discussion could be spurred. I can post each judge's comments to the particular courses there, and Mike Nuzzo has offered to provide some running commentary as they come up.

In any case, I am happy to present the winning entry...

Mike Viscusi's Course #22, The General's Club

The complete scoring can be found here. Like last time, each judge gave their ranking 1-8 and those were averaged to form the final rankings.

Well done Mike. Top of the pops with 2 of the 3 judges for a well deserved win. Bad luck to Brian who wasn't too far off the mark.

I was stoked to make the final 8 so 4th is fantastic. Even better I just pipped Brett :-)

I'm looking forward to seeing everyone's supplementary information posted soon. Hopefully Alex will stick my yardage card up online (I haven't mastered the art of posting supplementary info / photo's yet).

cheers, Dieter

Congratulations Mike!  A well-deserved win.  While a little disappointing to come so close only to take silver, I had a great time with this contest and feel like I learned alot about the routing process which was, of course, the point.  I will put my routing up for discussion/dissection in the next day or so.

Brian,

You were the clear winner on my scorecard. I think that is enough votes to bump you to first place. ;) Especially since Mike didn't even make my score card. Besides you beat the two guys that I had at the top in AAC II, Alex and Daryn.

Thanks everyone.  I appreciate the kind words and want to thank Alex, Jim, Tommy, Mike and Ron for their contributions.  The amount of time they invested was extremely generous and very much appreciated.

I will try to post my design in a new thread in the next day or two with some additional notes for the few who may be interested.

How much was the grand prize again?  $50,000?  ;D

Penn State has a dynasty going on AAC. Congrats, Mike! Somewhere along the line, I put up a round at Ballyneal for the winner, so let me know if/when you want to take advantage of that.

You know I have to wonder how one of the designs that most obscured the topography of the site ended up winning. It is just like AAC #2 where the design that required the most earth movement won, because no one could tell unless you spent a lot of time redrawing the original contours into the drawing submitted.

And, why did Alex get a complaint about his colors making the topo hard to read when the winner made them impossible to read?

And, where are the judges comments on this winning design?

GJ, One of the things I was upset about after I submitted my routing was the inability to see the topo lines. I certainly would have preferred it to be more transparent but I was working right up to the midnight deadline as is and I simply ran out of time to correct it.  I did try to add a little shading though to emphasize some of the bigger contours.

That being said, I don't think it was too hard to get an understanding of the placement and intent of my design by comparing it to the blank topo map.  Apparently the judges didn't have an issue with this.

I will start a new thread shortly on my design with the judges feedback and some additional notes.  Maybe you will come around a bit...or maybe it will just further fuel your belief that I am not a deserving winner. ;)

Mike,

I'm not saying you aren't deserving, I'm just saying I couldn't judge it in a reasonable amount of time. It is good to hear you tried to fix some before submitting.

You might have noticed that in another post I suggested a future rule of outlines in black of fairways, bunkers, and greens only should be a rule for future contests to make it easier to judge. After all, the more help the judges get, the better the contest will be IMO.

Do we have a listing somewhere of participants names with their numbers?
