such a bummer...thought it was a ranking of courses in the Pinehurst area.

here's mine, based on the six courses I've played:

1. Pinehurst Dos
2. Tobacco Road
3. Southern Pines
4. Tot Hill Farm (it's a stretch, I know...)
5. Little River Farm (not an oxymoron)
6. The Pit (STB NLE)
7.
8.
9.
10.

I'll play RoMo...

1...Pinehurst #2
2...Dormie
3...Pine Needles
4...#4 (oddly enough)
5...Mid-Pines (probably better than #4, but the one time I played #4 that course was REALLY fast and firm and fun!!...drought)
6...#8
7...Southern Pines
8...Tobacco Road

Only played 8 courses.

Alex, can you add to the discussion on Pinehurst #9 from the resort's perspective?  Many of us are excited about the opportunity there!

Forest Creek has two really fine courses that I like as much as Dormie and CCNC Cardinal deserves mention due to recent improvements with new greens and tree removal.  It's not top 10 but lots of fun.

Alex--

You should probably add to you name that you're here at the behalf of Pinehurst so that there's no misunderstanding that your opinions on this board represent that of your employer...

His opinions aren't really out of the box. It may be unintentional but Mac and Ron are right not to rank 10 courses as there simply isn't enough quality to go that far down in the rankings.

Here we go:

1. #2
2. Dormie
3. Forest Creek North
4. Forest Creek South
5. #4 (missed it by one)
6. CCNC Dogwood
7. Pine Needles
8. #8 (yes!)
9. Tobacco Road

Only 1 top 100-type course in this entire list.
Charlotte. Daniel. Olivia. Josephine. Ana. Dylan. Madeleine. Catherine. Chase. Jesse. James. Grace. Emilie. Jack. Noah. Caroline. Jessica. Benjamin. Avielle. Allison.

6) Talamore
7) Pit
8) Legacy

There may not be top echelons quality but what are the poor courses, in my mind the poor courses are still pretty good.

I'll give it a shot.  For full disclosure, after I got to 13 I just started listing courses in alphabetical order :)  I don't really think Tot Hill Farm is the 36th best course in the Pinehurst area, so don't send me IM's asking me why ;D

1    #2                           15   Carolina                   29   Pinehurst #6
2   Dormie                   16   Deercroft                   30   Pinehurst #7
3   Forest Creek(North)   17   Foxfire(East)               31   Pinewild(Holly)
4   Pine Needles           18   Foxfire(West)             32   Quail Ridge
5   Forest Creek(South)   19   Hyland                   33   Seven Lakes
6   Tobacco Road           20   Knollwood Fairways   34   Talamore
7   CCNC(Dogwood)           21   Legacy                   35   The Bluff
8   #4                           22   Little River                   36   Tot Hill Farm
9   CCNC(Cardinal)           23   Mid South                   37   Whispering Pines(East)
10   Mid Pines                   24   Midland                   38   Whispering Pines(West)
11   #8                           25   National                   39   Whispering Woods
12   Southern Pines           26   Pinehurst #1           40   Woodlake(Maples)
13   Pinewild(Magnolia)   27   Pinehurst #3           41   Woodlake(Palmer)
14   Beacon Ridge           28   Pinehurst #5

I did this from memory so I might have forgotten a course.  If you isolate Moore County you need to remove Tobacco Road, Tot Hill Farm, Deercroft, and Quail Ridge

Cory, thats a good listing!  You have given me a few places to check out with my kids...

Bogey, we go down and play #1 often.  Its pretty old school with houses on most fairways but there are new bermuda greens and some really good holes.   I dont care for the new par 3 that screws up the routing mid round but the resort needed the old #18 for practice areas.  There is a
good mix of short and long par 4s, the par 3s are interesting and the firm new greens make it more challenging.

I enjoyed Woodlake (Maples) back in the day. A few boring holes coming in but overall pretty solid.
