I think your intentions are in the right place, but there are few raters that attempt to do what you are suggesting, and probably fewer courses that would allow a rater to stay on the property all day. A lot of private clubs require that someone "host" you and show you around--you don't just get checked in to do as you please.
I find the best way to be thorough is to take pictures while playing (assuming the club allows it)--then you can review things later at your leisure if you don't trust your memory.
