Damn Fred you could have included directions in your reply

Perhaps Dave or Fred could suggest a cocktail hour rendezvous and we could work off that?

Joe,
David and Frank are arranging all of the tee times for Sun-Friday rounds.  A lot of work, which is much appreciated.  Amazingly, if my math is correct, we are getting to play the top courses in Holland Sun-Fri for €570 - less than €50 per round.  That helps me out a lot given the miserable value of the $.

There are a couple of logistics questions that come to mind:
1.  What format of payment is acceptable to clubs?  Will they take credit cards, or is cash needed for each? I had assumed that the group would need to make a consolidated payment to each club, but could be wrong.

I checked Swinkelsche and they can only accept cash, NO CREDIT CARDS. The good news its only 27.50 euro per person....
Eindhovensche and Hoge Kleij are free so no credit cards needed  :)

Thanks, Frank.  You've made the payment question quite easy on us.

Sorry to be so pedestrian but ....

I need to git a holt of Mike Whittaker or have him check his email immediately

Guys,

I think all the other clubs accept credit cards. Probably Visa/mastercard mainly. AMEX to a lesser extent.

Are you going to collect the money centrally for the main event, like the down payment?

Ulrich,

I don't think so. I think everyone will have to pay at each place but I'll check with Tony who's the acting treasurer for this BUDA. Personally I don't want anything to do with handling money unless it's being given/donated to me :-)

Not wanting to tempt fate but the weather forecast looks as near perfect as it's possible to imagine.  Starting to get quite excited!
In June I will be riding the first three stages of this year's Tour de France route for charity.  630km (394 miles) in three days, with 7800m (25,600 feet) of climbing for the William Wates Memorial Trust (https://rideleloop.org/the-charity/) which supports underprivileged young people.

Mark,

I'm excited for you guys and wish I could make the trip over. Really enjoyed getting to know your host while traveling the plains with him the week before last. David's organized what should be another memorable BUDA. My hat's off to him.

Mark,

at least now we know who to blame if the weather turns bad after all! :)

I have been holding my fingers still for a few days already, since ancient German weather folklore says the weather on "Siebenschläfer" day holds for seven weeks. Now, there is some debate amongst the clueless as to how ancient this saying is and whether the Gregorian or the Julian calendar applies for determining when this Siebenschläfer day actually is. But suffice it to say that most learned men and women agree that the past week-end was the date (where we had brilliant weather) and not the week-end before that (where the weather was British).

So there, hope to see you all in the hotel bar, come Sunday night.

Ward and I are on the Pride of Canterbury heading across the channel for our per-BUDA tour. We just finished two glorious days in Deal and the weather has been PERFECT!!! Looking forward to seeing you boys in Holland after we spend two days in France and two in Belgium. Cheers!

It would be helpful if everyone could post the mobile numbers at which they can be reached while in The Netherlands.

What time should we plan on being at Swinkelsche on Sunday morning?

I just saw that Wednesday tee times at de Pan start at 7.15am, the night after the dinner.  Google maps reckons on an 80 minute drive!

Ideally around 9 am, earlier is even better. We can start when we want. Eindhoven is booked for around 14.30

Mark,

yes it will be an early one. However a few of you were set to leave after golf on Wednesday afternoon and mentioned that a later tee time was not desired at Noordwijkse so I left it at 1 pm. We need to play at De Pan, should be 3.5 - 4 hours, have a quick lunch and then drive to Noordwijkse by 1 pm. It will be tight but it's worth it to have the chance to experience De Pan. It will be a great day of golf.

Mark, the drive is 1 hour and a couple minutes. Less if you follow me and keep up. It's all freeway except for the last 10 minutes. No problem.

My mobile number is +31 (0) 6 53 76 9403. (only dial the 0 if you are in NL calling locally and then you drop the +31.

I won't make it Saturday evening. My trip in the US was unpleasantly extended so I'm returning Friday morning to NL.

Look forward to seeing you all.

Well, at least those staying on will have enough time to relax on Wednesday afternoon :)

BTW, I doubt that the hotel will serve breakfast at 5:30 AM, but it might be worth asking them if they'd prepare lunch bags for that day.

David,

I'm travelling with Conrad Gamble.  You haven't met Conrad but he's well known to previous BUDAites.  He'll be driving.  Trust me when I say that it's unlikely we'll struggle to keep up........

Good points, well made.  I would point out that we were able to drive out of the field we ended up in between Rye and Deal.

Mountainous terrain, too, can slow Conrad down.

I'm happy to give up a bit of sleep for the course lineup we have.  I get into AMS a little before 6AM on Sunday morning, so barring any major immigration delays should be at Swinkelsche by 9.

I don't foresee a problem with that in the Netherlands, though.  As to the need for sleep, I remain convinced that you don't actually need sleep in the way mere mortals do.
