John - thanks for the tip, clearly, I'm THAT rookie

Anders - excellent stuff, I thought that was Ballyneal, but was struggling to put together which hole.  I NEED to see Lundin Links, that looks like a little slice of heaven.

This and the other thread have been two of the best of the year.  One thing I have learned for sure is that I need to focus a little more on my photography skills.

Sometimes the best looks are when you turn around and take a picture after playing the hole.   :)   (PV Hole 8 )

Padraig, if there were a collective prize, I'd give you a vote.

In your second-last photo, is that fellow the greatest hooker of all time? The size of his balls would indicate that he is.

That photo was of the 14th hole, 325 yards, maybe just short of 300 to the front, there was a following breeze, what else could you do but go for it!! It just caught the right edge of the bunker next to the hazard.

OH MY GOD!!!!!!!

The funny thing about this picture, is the guys heading up the first, it had been heavy for 30 minutes, looked like it was about to clear so they hit, as they started walking up the first it got really heavy and they stood underneath the umbrellas for about an hour by the first green!!

A couple photos which don't belong to me and therefore I couldn't submit to the contest.

Couple of my B Side Photos

I simply love the look and feel of a links course in Autumn.  Green ribbons of fairways engulfed literally in straw coloured rough.  Wonderful contrasts.  This image was taken on the 17th Paraparaumu Beach.  A split fairway this captures a lone golfer taking the challenging lower fairway surrounded by a sea of fescue and browntop.

In March this year Paraparaumu Beach hosted the GCA Boomerang.  Fun couple of days with some really good people.

In September I had a week in Melbourne playing some golf.  This photo was taken after a great day down with fellow GCA'er Ben Jarvis at his wonderful 13th Beach.  I took this photo whilst on the phone back to NZ capturing the 18th on the "beach" course - camera in one hand whilst on the phone in my other hand I was feining to my wife that I was having a terrible time and missed her dearly.

Finally, another catch up with some GCA'ers and Australian based Paraparaumu Beach members at Kingston Heath.  Mick Morcom and his sandbelt bunkering are simply the best and again I love the sandbelts excellent contrasts of colour which always make for interesting photos.

16th at Highlands Links

Ian, you can call Dawson/Hawtree and get all those hollows filled in.  It must be a nightmare for those union guys at Highlands to cut the 16th consistently.

7th Tee Old Head

How is this gentleman able to hit the ball, with what appears to be a reverse shaft flex, a full 18 inches before impact? Or is it some sort of photogrphic hijinks?

David, I hit it straight down the middle. The bend showing in the shaft is the result of a slow shutter speed in the camera!!
