Brock,
I've played it four or five times; really, really like it.  It's worth the drive up there, and it is a very nice walk.  Enjoy.

Pretty sure there is a thread on Old Union.  You can search the name and it should come up.

Hi,

Yes, I have played it too. I really liked it. It's in the Georgia mountains and that is just the most wonderful area of the State. Its a few degrees cooler up there so great during the Georgia summer, but perhaps the prettiest in the Spring and Autumn. The Greens fees are very affordable for a well designed and maintained course. Denis Griffiths (former President of the ASGCA) designed the course, built it and owns it. There are few other architects that can claim that hat-trick, and I think it is worth mention for that fact alone. Glad you brought it up Brock.

Old Union is a wonderful course , very natural, no houses or really anything out there. We walked it, it was in the middle of thesummer, a bit cooler than to the south given the elevation.   Recommend staying overnight, there is actually some very good golf in that area.  Nearby is Brasstown Valley, and the Ledges, two courses surrounded by mountains, but located in valleys.

Thanks for the feedback.  Someone had mentioned it to me a month or so ago, I think I will sneak up there sometime soon.

Brasstown is close by, worth playing, and is a neat place to stay.  The Ledges is in Huntsville, AL about 200 miles away; you must be thinking of something else in the area.  Did you mean The Ridges in Hayesville, NC?

Here is the photo tour of Old Union referenced earlier:

I too have played Old Union.  The course is unique for the area in that it is on almost completely flat terrain and many of the other courses are on very very hilly terrain.

I concur with most everyone else.  An enjoyable golf course, great value, and the people there are as friendly as they come.   They appreciate the business.

Report back when you play it...

I think Denis Griffiths Designed Brasstown Valley too. If so, you could play the 'Denis Griffiths Trail' (If Trent Jones can have one....) It is more of a 'two-step' or 'Back to Back', but it sounds like a fun combo!
