Harry Rountree... did you know?
« on: October 27, 2012, 10:25:42 AM »
Harry Rountree was so full of creative juice, you have to be impressed.  We have seen it first hand through his gorgeous Golf Landscape

pieces in Golf Courses of the British Isles etc...but did you know...

that he was likely even more well known for his Children's Book illustrations.  Including Swiss Family Robinson, Alice in Wonderland etc.   With a baby daughter on the way...I have to get my hands on one or two of these books !!  Trouble is, I don't see them on the Registry at BabysRUs. :/

Lovely, lovely, just lovely stuff.
The GCOTBI images are gorgeous, and these are easily their equal.

Josh,
I usually go to Barnes & Noble rare or out of print books page. They accept illustrators as a search parameter.

Manfred Schotten Antiques (www.sportantiques.co.uk), located not far from me at Burford in the Cotswolds occasionally has Rountree originals for sale. They're beautiful, but way beyond my means, so I share the link gladly :)
