I wouldn't say that the greens contouring at Thirteenth Beach is subtle, most of the slopes are fairly obvious and don't leave much to the imagination. In some respects, they are similar to the RTJ course at the National, lots of movement on and around the greens, yet you still have a number of fairly straight putts when on the correct tier. That said, I thought the greens were very good, both in maintenance and design, and provided much short game interest.
Contrast this with Commonwealth, where in two years of playing 1-2 times per week, except on putts of under a foot , I have never aimed a putt at the centre of the hole!
