Sahalee Golf Club near Seattle

Today as a few of you know I played 27 holes at Sahalee. It was my first time. Quite a few people made comments about the trees. I started on the North Course and have to say the first few holes really made me laugh. The were so tight with trees and tight visually that I couldn't tell what was happening with the hole at all. I mean I could only see forest. I've taken several photos, all with my iphone as my camera broke and will post some for those that are interested. I thought I played pretty well, 4 shots under my hcp so the course wasn't tought although I didn't play at the black tees. However I played at least 10 2nd shots out of the trees or played shots I had to shape in one way or another around trees. I even played two shots that I would of never played which were kind of hit and hope shots. Purposely trying to hit a hard shot through cedar tree branches. Both time it worked reasonably well.

BTW I agree completely that they need a severe tree management program and I shared these details with the powers that be. I was assured that they were busy removing trees every year. Otherwise the course was in perfect shape and everything about it is great. Also the East and South courses were far more wide open in my opinion.

Having held some major events including one PGA Championships I'd say the course and history are pretty cool. It's an interesting #50 on Golf Digests list.

Just recently enjoyed a day there as well.

Big cedars everywhere.

Built in 1969, designed by Ted Robinson in conjunction with the gated community of Sahalee (high heavenly ground).

Beautiful this time of year! (also played Chamber's Bay...no wind and 75 degrees).

The nines are all very tight probably as dictated by the real estate aspect of the development.  You do look into lots of backyards, kitchens, laundry rooms on most holes as the density of the trees protects the homes from golf balls.

Played the black tees and hit several trees loudly! Beautiful corridors and unforgiving to stray shots. Greens were pure and speedy...all poa everywhere.

Very nice walk...may get pretty soggy in the winter and spring but still will be playable.

I think the trees at Sahalee are the biggest of any course I have played. The sheer size of them made the corridors appear even narrower than they really are.
