373 yards
« on: September 23, 2012, 03:44:09 PM »
I’m watching shot tracker of the Fed Ex on the Internet and according to them Justin Rose hit his Tee Shot 357 yards and Rory 373 yards at the Nr 9 Par 5 600yards!!!!

What’s the story here - is it down hill?

Or is Gary Player’s prediction that they’ll soon be hitting 400 yards regularly gradually achieving fulfillment!!!

Seeing the title had me thinking the thread might be about an interesting short par-4 for all classes of golfers. Now I see it's the seed of an idea for a long downhill par-3!

Keep in mind that the PGA Tour set up for these courses includes rock hard, links-like fairways. Back in the day, when they used to come to Cog Hill and play, the fairways at Dubs got so firm just before the Western Open that we could reach hazards (bunkers or ponds) that were simply out of play the rest of the year.

The hole is very much downhill, and I believe may have been downwind yesterday as well.

Did I hear correctly -  Keegan Bradley hit the ball 394 yards?

John:

I wouldn't be surprised -- Bradley might be along with Bubba the longest guy on the US side, and seems to be hitting it really well today. And Medinah is pretty firm and drying out with a steady brisk wind today.
