... the Rider Cup.

The Rider Cup?

Is that some sort of fox-hunting competition? They still do that there?

I'd have thought there'd be Mass Opposition to that.

But thanks for the news tip. We newspapermen are always looking for Good Leeds.

Dan Kelly with one of the best hints yet.

Love the look of this course.  It's at the top of the list of US courses I most want to see.  Thanks much for the photos.

See, this is the thanks I get for waiting to post on this.

My clue would've been: Surely that mass of mounds is yet another clue that leeds one to discover the name of this course. :o

Too late, too late.

Perhaps when the name is revealed we can all, finally be, at rest.

One of my "Golf Dreams" (yes, another hint) was to play this course with one of its heretofore hinted-at members.  Sadly, that cannot now happen.  But I do look forward to visiting the Rat and Toilet Plunger Club someday.

Here is to Tom's looking forward.... hint.

And Dan and Phil, what?  No love for my hints... or are you both just that short sighted to recognize them? ;D

Ah, how right you are!  Idea now in the "development" file.  The golf scenes in the Rabbit series are among the best of golf literature, IMO.  I love one of the ones in Rabbit at Rest.  Angstrom is on the golf course, struggling, and the line is something like..."it was not his day.  He wondered if it would ever be his day again."

You'd have to be as near-sighted as Mr. Magoo not to get it now:)  Great course, great pics.  I love the diagonal hazards, as well as the quaint charm.  It is a nature walk with your clubs:)  Great thread, Mal

To get back to architecture and away from our Scott Burroughs-esque hint-dropping... :D

What is really cool about this course (and there is another great thread roaming around the web from an itinerant golfer about this course) is just how often, and how well, the lay of the land is used to create blind tee shots, blind approaches, funky green tilts, and unconventional hole yardages. Easily in the top five of my U.S. bucket list.

3rd hole may be one of the toughest par 3's on the East Coast. Great place to spend an afternoon. As an aside the pro at this esteemed club may be the nicest pro around.

Is the land upon which this course is sited, pure sand?  It strikes me that many of the bunkers are actually pits, scooped out from surrounding FW grade without any clear slope leading away from the pits for drainage lines.  Or, after heavy rains, do these bunker tend to hold pools of water for a period of time after the rain?

Lets proceed to the finish...

16th tee (Folks, the light was getting tough at this point and my own photo from shadow to bright flat light wasn't so great so I borrowed a photo off the web to give you a decent view)

A most unique par 3, downhill to a green that slopes severely from front to back. Rear bunkers are very popular.

I thought this club contacted Ran awhile back and asked him to take down all pictures of the course.

Malcom has done a great job of getting pictures up for all of us to enjoy while keeping the club's name out of it.  But with all the unneeded hints and now the club's logo, I believe you guys are running the risk of having the club contact Ran, once again, to get these pictures taken off the site.

Perhaps you guys should consider modifying/erasing some of the unneeded hints and the logo in an effort to keep the wonderful photos up.

Just a thought.
