Matt:

Good luck -- going up against one of Wisconsin's better golfers in recent years, Nathan Colson, who played at Marquette and prepped at a high school north of Milwaukee where the athletic director is a good friend of mine. Nonetheless, my allegiances are with the GCA guy! Go get 'em!

No glory retelling of the 10th?  Everyone needs a little luck like that; but then again, to not pick up holes at the 3rd and 7th must have been tough - great mental commitment to stay with Adam in the front stretch and not let it get away from you when he was on such a tear.

Matt -

Best of luck. Keep rolling.

DT

P.S. Not wishing to steal any of Matt's thunder, but congrats as well to Pebble Beach caddie Casey Boyns, who qualified for matchplay at age 56 or so and won his first round match on the 23rd hole.

1-DOWN through 12.

Looks like they are all square again after 13. Matt hasn't led so far, but he's gone 1-down three times only to come back to square it.

Amazing how they drug all the players out on the course to take their pictures.

Birdie on 13.  AS again.

Luckily for Matt, he didn't catch the guy he'll play if he wins this morning.   That guy went 8 under through 12 and won 8&6.  The guy he played shot +1 (and lost 8&6).  Or, to put it another way, the guy he played birdied the 9th hole to go -1 for the round - and decreased the deficit to 5 holes.  He also lost a hole with a birdie 3 (to his opponent's eagle 2, although I assume the recorded 3 was based merely on a concession as the hole was already lost).

That match will start immediately after Matt (hopefully) wraps this one up.

What's up with the par 5 8th? Lots of pars and bogeys in Matt's matches, with him and his opponents.

Yes, my internet humor didn't come through in the post. The low graphic quality is kind of a giveaway.

Matt won the par-5 14th with a bogey to take his first lead. Hopefully he's distracting his opponent with lots of strategy talk.

(EDIT: With 2 to play.)

Can't be any Dormie if there can't be a tie, right?

Stay awake, Matt Cohn!

I always assumed you still called it Dormie, just that it meant you were assured at least the sudden death extra holes.

EDIT:  Anyway, it is done.  3&1.
