What's the process?
« on: July 03, 2003, 06:38:25 PM »
Lets say your developing a mid-range ($35-$55) daily fee course with land donated by a developer on a decent rolling site. What's the process for hiring an architect? I'm a Superintendent and if someone ask me to help them hire a supt., not by giving names, but by helping them develop a process to make the best hire, I could do that. If your an architect, and your not going to do the job for whatever reason, what process would you recommend to try and assure the client makes the best hire?

Don,

Your question doesn't matter...you are GORGEOUS!!!!

Or is that picture not really you?

Don,

ASGCA has a standard "Request for Proposal" form available that many clients use.  There are many blanks to fill in, so you can customize it to your particular needs.

You can send it to the entire ASGCA and NGF list of architects, or pick and choose up to a dozen that make sense to you, either by reputation or geography.  Unlike local construction projects

The RFP document also follows the best process, saying you will get in information from all interested respondents, narrow the list to three to five to interview, and make a selection and negotiate fees and services.

You can order the document from asgca.org, or call them at 312.372.7090.  call me if you want more help!

Joe,
I've been getting some flak for that picture. Have you seen the other choices?

Jeff,
Thanks for the response. I'll visit the ASGCA web site to get more info.

The best marriage is to make sure the owner/developer and architect will get along and feed well off each other. If both parties truly want to work with one another you can hardly go wrong, providing talent and expertise is evident — among both parties. When all the stars line up it matters not much what the fee winds up being....the marriage is too precious to lose.

I wonder what Mike Kaiser's answer(s) would be.
