New course for Scottish island?
« on: August 13, 2012, 12:09:18 PM »
I don't like to plug our site on here, but I noticed no-one had posted about the proposed new course on the Scottish island of Jura. Take a look at our story - and the site pics - pretty sweet. Hope it comes off.

While I wish the best to Mr. Harrison and Mr. Coffey, I wonder if this will be an echo of the saying, "How do you make a small fortune in the golf business? Start with a large one!" ;)

No irrigation on the greens.

The most genuine experience in golf could be (I don't know, I haven't done it) a leisurely west coast week spent driving from the tip of Kintyre, taking in Machrihanish, Machrie, Arran, Skye & finishing at Askernish in South Uist... Whisky, walking, lock-ins, locals, stunning sea-air scenery... This could make a worthy addition given the beauty of the area...

Know anyone with a nice boat? :)

Yes, I'd like to hand out a bouquet to this idea. It would be the easiest thing in the world to be a nah-sayer, but the site looks great, and I wish Greg and Bob all the best. These adventures are the type that just may work... and it looks like fun!

Don't forget Gigha just west of Kintyre, also has a nine holes course

Adam...

I was going to post this later today, but you beat me to the punch.  This place looks like it might be something extra special.  I love these kind of places.

No irrigation on the greens.

Considering our weather for the last 10+ years, no need for it !

Gentlemen,
I wonder if  people have seen that 2 part series of "Three Men in a Boat" where they follow in Johnson's footsteps through Islands.  Some of the most stunning scenery possibly enhanced in their eyes by a wee bit of malt! I forget which island but  they played golf on one of the islands....an hilarious scene in great scenery!

Ally, Your golfing odyssey would be a memory for a lifetime and probably not that expensive.

Buie the Younger,
Taking on challenges and succeeding!  Romantics then and romantics now eh?

Cheers Colin

Looks wonderful - hearing about the Hebrides always brings back memories of Whisky Galore

You too can do something similar as there was the real estate listing that was posted here a few weeks back for the Sandside estate in Thurso.

I'm supposed to be visiting the distillery in October... maybe I'll have a look at the land. It's a beautiful part of the world.
