ESPN doing a good job at the Open this time

I like the player interviews and commentators. Especially Peter Alliss.  Tom Weiskopf is good also. I have been previously unimpressed with their golf coverages but they have improved it clearly and I like this one. No Chris Berman thankfully.

Amen.  His voice and mannerisms are too much for me.  I love Tirico being the lead for golf events.

It can't measure up to Alliss, Nick Faldo and Ken Brown on the Beeb not to mention their camera coverage. I'd imagine much of "ESPN's" graphics and visuals in fact are just pickups from the BBC. Anyone able to make a comparo?

Yes I wish I could watch Allis on the BBC too. I am somehow not able to get to more than the twitter feed there.

Announcers are great but I'd really like to see more than the top 4 guys.  That's pretty much the whole show since they teed off.

The last hour has not been their best -- a very poor missed interpretation of a basic rule, and lots of tape-delayed shots.

I am agreeing that it faded. I guess I liked it it earlier when they had Alliss on.  Azinger had a bad day. And they all get upset when Tiger blows up.

Been lucky to sit in a broadcast truck during a major, so I know many shots are shown delayed.  ESPN has set the record today!  I'd bet less than 10% of the shots shown were live today.

I had Ernie in a pool and his victory won me a nice chunk of change . . . but I was still rooting for Scott.  (Ernie in 2nd would've been fine too!)  Very hard to watch a collapse like that.

Agreed as to Azinger.  He drove me nuts.  His rules gaffes, his comment after Scott and McDowell were put on the clock when he said something like these guys have no control over the pace of play, it is absurd that they are on the clock, and other boneheaded comments. He also used a couple of cliches inappropriately.  Hard to listen to him - - particulary after Alliss.

Did anyone see Duval in the booth yesterday morning?  I thought he actually showed some personality and added some good insights in the brief time he was in the booth.

1. "How do you feel?"
2. "The bogeys down the stretch didn't help, did they?"

That was brutal watching Adam Scott melt down.  As David pointed out, he handled that last hour with complete class and dignity.  I've newfound respect for him.  I hope he gets a major soon.  

Good for Ernie, overcoming personal family challenges and resurrecting his game.
