Tech Q: Does this website have a fixed 'width'?
« on: July 12, 2012, 04:47:40 PM »
Can I make GCA fit the width of my screen in IE9? (I get two broad areas of wasted space either side and have to scroll across any photie wider than about 900 pixels)

???

PS And any clues about the Review sitrep?

A blue slider results for any pictures wider than 800 pixels.  That may be the width of just a text post too.

I have no idea why Ran won't go wider for pix.  The Other site goes wider and its superior for viewing photos.  Can you tell this has been a bitching point for some time?

My dual monitors are 1900+ pixels wide and I get the same thing, with much bigger grey bars...
Maybe all of your saved messages are gobbling up Ran & Ben's bandwidth?   :P  ;D

Perhaps Ran's web provider restricts the size to limit bandwidth?

P.S.  I do all my photo tours putting my pics at 1200 pixels and employ the width=800 trick to make them fit here.  When the site eventually upgrades to allow wider, I have up to 400 more pixels to use.   :)

Isn't there something about it being simply unamerican to restrict freedom of speech??? (even when it's the vin-addled ravings of a demented Scotsman?)

The single worst aspect to the redesign of this website several years ago. It used to have individual scroll bars beneath every picture.

The non-gray area (white) for the site is just a couple of pixels under 1000 for those of you keeping score at home.
