In the Philadelphia area this is nicely accomplished by Merchantville CC and Moorestown Field Club, both in south Jersey and minutes apart.

On the way home from Newport, Rhode Island I finally played Jamestown Golf Course:

Due to weather and family logistics, I could not play Fenwick which would be the perfect add on back in Connecticut. I have played it and it is very fun:

Portmadoc and Abersoch are only a few miles apart in North Wales. They each have nine superb links holes and nine so-so holes further inland leading to a schizo feel. Combining the two complementary links nines into one day sounds like a great idea...

Waveland and Peter Jans in Chicago/Evanston.  Nothing earthshattering architecturally, but the lunch and cocktail options are pretty hard to beat...

Jud:

The Jans -- sadly, it must be said -- no longer "exists," as it has shamefully been renamed Canal Shores Golf Course. And it's a full 18, as it always has been.
