My Idea for the GCA Help Board
« on: June 10, 2012, 10:49:30 PM »
Lately there has been some bitching, moaning, and dick measuring about old topics that always start a fight (and I don't mean the cart debate). It would be awesome if there was a feature on GCA where we could block posts and threads from certain posters so that those of us who are here to enjoy the site can do that and not be immersed in this garbage.

No, I opened one of those 4 threads on the front page about the same thing.

I like this idea. I'd also like automatic icons that would tell me who is the pot and who is the kettle during these bench-chearing brawls. See, I thought it was always sunny in Philadelphia. :)

Isn't that the role of the "Report to moderator" button located over here --------------------------------------------

What I think Sam is referring to is common on some other message boards and is a really nice feature. Perhaps there is someone who you just don't like reading whether it's style, content, or some sort of animosity.  You choose to block them.  Then the next time you visit the site (assuming you're logged in), anything that they've posted just doesn't show up.  You can read comments people have made in reply but not those from the poster(s) that you wish to ignore.  This doesn't affect anyone else - only what you see.

Interesting. Thanks for explaining, John.

This is a horrible idea as many of us would have missed the excellent and worthy HHH threads.

John,

It doesn't block entire threads, the feature would only block posts made by people you are not interested in reading from.

The feature does work very well and is good at getting rid of attention seeking trolls.....

Sam,

No one forces you to read any post.

If you have no interest in what a particular person has written, don't read their replies.

It's that simple.

Or people that have nothing better to do than call out people who are no longer on this board. ::)
