Inspired by John Kavanaugh's thread years ago where he gave what amounted to a twitter like description of a trip, I thought I would try a day by day version this time.  I am playing next Tuesday but it will be an odyssey getting there.

June 7 - The final day before departure.  It is going to be a mad scramble to get out of the house in time for a 6:30 flight tomorrow morning.  The kids are finishing finals, the dogs need to go to the kennel, my daughter leaves for camp tomorrow, we are attempting to negotiate the purchase and financing of a house, my work schedule is packed for the entire day and my wife's insulin pump broke in a foreign country meaning I am going to need to somehow get a medical device, needles and other diabetic supplied through customs. To top it off, I figure out I need to present an oral argument today that had not appeared on my calendar yesterday.  My biggest stresses are more mundane. and somehow I need to get more dog food and the lawn mowed because it is starting to go to seed and my lawn mower broke.  As a result I am up at 5 am and should be working but instead am procrastinating by messing around on Golf Club Atlas.

Son suggests we purchase a jet ski.  I am a bit short with my reply.

In times of stress I try to take a few minutes to visit a karesansui aka zen garden.

But I don't suppose you have access to one of those.

You think you got it bad.  My flight to Seattle for the British Columbia Kings Putter takes off at 5 fricking 30 tomorrow morning!  (I thought it was 6:30 until I checked in this morning  :o ).

Sounds like a more interesting day than Kinloch Saturday if no less stressful.

Dogs taken care of.  Lawn mowed.  Oral argument done.  House negotiations stalled.  Kids have finished the school year.  I just need to breathe, relax and make sure to wake up in time for the 6:30 to Toronto.  My destination is on Ran's next 50.

I know the US Postal service is struggling but here is a tip for their business model - Sell stamps and envelopes.  I stop at the local post office assuming there is a vending machine that sells such items.  I am wrong. Also - I now know our city planning commission is asleep at the switch when this store is located next to a post office:

Thanks to my son for hacking through that.

Too bad there's no Burtynsky in the Air Canada lounge in the new intl terminal like there is in the old terminal's lounge. Man is he awesome!

On approach / departure be sure to look out window if passing West (I think) of airport as there is an unintentional artwork I call "Golf Will Find a Way." It's a course jammed onto what looks like an old landfill and surrounded by a high-density housing development. Really an incredible sight (and site).

I have spent fruitless hours Google searching for it, unsuccessfully. Which for me kinda reinforces the arty aspect. Is it real?

Last minute packing addition - swim trunks. I don't know whether or not I need them but if I do I will definitely want them.

The contrast between travel weary business folks and families travelling as school lets out is stark. A group of teeneagers took up half the plane all wearing matching tee shirts.  One had never been ona plane. I suspect they are on mynext flight.

My travel pillow is making me think of the 8th green at Sand Hills and the original 9th at Augusta National. I need to get on the plane and get some sleep. I fear sleeping now would cause me to miss my flight. It has happened before.

Almost time to board the flight to Tokyo.  Things look bad for Federer and the Blue team playing soccer.

Minnesota - Toronto - Tokyo?

Delta couldn't you through Seattle?
I get it, you are mad at the world because you are an adult caddie and few people take you seriously.

Excellent spellers usually lack any vision or common sense.

I know plenty of courses that are in the red, and they are killing it.

Still looking for that assault you mentioned...

I must be misreading the tenses and / or modifiers in your reply #18. No worries, I'll replace my prior posts with the "." of shame and you can go back to enjoying the airport.
