I'll be in the US for a couple of of weeks in August and that will include two nights in Philadelphia.

So what better way to enjoy the City of Brotherly Love than to bring together a few members of the GCA.com family for some dinner and/or a few beers?

Anyone up for a get-together either the 13th or 14th? The latter is best for me, but more than happy to work with whatever might suit others.

Not sure, Joe. It was only confirmed this morning that I was going to be spending this time in the city, so aside from the fact I am landing about 6am on the 13th and leaving the city late morning on the 15th, there's nothing else planned.

Where do you recommend staying? Sean Arble told me Chestnut Hill is good?

Mayday and I are hoping to catch up for a game of golf, but not sure what else I'll get up to, apart from visiting the Rocky stairs, of course!

Chestnut Hill is a good rec.

And you are then close to McNally's Tavern.

Neat old place, smoke-free, and serves the famous Schmitter sandwich.

Scott,

All in! We got ya covered pal. IM me what you have on tap and we'll have some gameplan shortly. While it will be the "dogdaze" 'round these parts, it won't be anything some late golf, ice-cold adult beverages and good company couldn't beat down into submission!

Cheers,

Cheers for the PMs from those who have sent them, much appreciated and I have replied to all.

The great news is John Lyon may be hitting town at the same time, who I've not caught up with since we were living in London at the same time.

Going to be a great couple of days.

Scott,

Looking forward to connecting when you're in Philly.

The McNally's Schmitter is good. The roast pork or cheesesteak at John's Roast Pork, www.JohnsRoastPork.com , are world class sandwiches and worth the trip alone!

Cheers,

Powell is right.  Those pork sandwiches are phenomenal at John's.  I would gladly join up if we have a gathering!

If my memory serves me correctly, there was a pork sandwich from somewhere in Philly on Man v Food that looked incredible and "John's" rings a bell. I might have to do some homework to check that.

Really looking forward to catching up with those I know and meeting those I don't yet.

I am likely good for either day. I actually took Sean Able to McNally's in Chestnut Hill when he was here a few years ago so he should be able to attest to the place, however it's a pretty small place.

I could likely arrange for golf at White Manor on the 12th or 14th if folks are interested.

Jason

I remember it well.  If I recall, the Brothers of The City of Brotherly Love all really liked Chestnut Hill.  The bar was perfect for beers and a sandwich and the area has a small town feel to it.  Plus, and I am not expecting Scott to be a fan, there was a very god sushi joint down the street and a few other homely establishments for beer and food.

I believe that there is critical mass for a get together at Lancaster on the 14th (and importantly the endorsement of our guest Mr. Warren) and I am hopeful that folks will take Jason up on the White Manor invite as it is fantastic day of golf. I have received some feedback through IM but if you are interested let me know.

Guys,

I'm going to defer to Rory's offer here for the 14th and it is a fantastic offer. If anyone would like to play the afternoon of August 12th I'd be happy to have some guys out at White Manor.

But I would still suggest we do the eating/drinking somewhere in the Philly area...

DiNic's is the pork sandwich on Man vs Food. If Johns is a 10, Dinic's is a 9.5. Damn good

Jason & Rory, I'd love to join on the 12th and /or 14th if space permits.

Jason and Rory,

Whatever's cooking on the golf front, I'd appreciate the opportunity to kindly participate in whatever is on tap. A Cobb's tag team round might also be possible if the ironmen are willing?!

Keep me posted.
