FDR a little Philly trivia
« on: March 31, 2012, 01:38:18 PM »
After reading Brother Melvyns lastest i was thinking of some courses we rated where the land is fit for no purpose.
Do any of you Philly boys know why the back 9 on FDR is two feet higher, amsl, than the front??  Brother Joe B you must know this one.

Ed, I'm a bit ashamed that I don't know the answer to this question!

The ground removed for the Broad Street subway, including old bricks, was dumped there.

I thought it  had something to do with the canal that runs through the course.

When there are heavy rains, the course is submerged.

We thought that too, but the bricks and debris made me ask when they came from. The gps showed the height difference, maybe it was a dual purpose dumping?
