Gentlemen (and the occasional lady),

Some of you know me, some would prefer to forget me and still others have heard mention of a disturbed Armenian - from Treehouse past - who occupied the corner bar stool and constantly muddied the water with discursive pontifications at full trumpet.

As time went on, the pressures of reality and tending to the affairs of the firm made participation in these rancorous debates a luxury item that I could not afford, although I miss it terribly. Luckily, I've managed to maintain enough friendships to avoid Ran yanking my license to expel snot here on GCA.

The lovely Redhead (who many of you know quite well) has suggested that I'm a far more agreeable (read: obedient) husband after a daily venting of my swollen spleen. Evidently, the retention of venom aggravates my already irritable and cantankerous nature. That and most voice-mails detonated by my ex-wife.

The point of this post (as only part of it pasted for some odd reason) is to query the Treehouse for anyone interested in participating in our feature film project. What does this have to do with architecture? Not much as it turns out (hence, the designation of O.T.) except that one of the main characters is an eccentric newspaper writer with a penchant for playing golf in Birkenstock spikes and obnoxious tie-dye shirts - the entrails of his former life as a rock & roll trivia wizard who gave up drugs, got respectable and replaced his obsession with an encyclopedic knowledge of golf architecture, inflicted on anyone and everyone within earshot.

Obviously, this character is a conglomeration of some of the more dogmatic members of our Treehouse tribe. The Redhead suggested that I rattle the tin cup to ascertain if (a.) anybody remembers me, and (b.) find out if there is any interest in participating in our project. The fundraising has been going incredibly well - owing to the trailer our crew and director shot.

We are gathering support on "Kickstarter," which is a website devoted to getting different kinds of creative projects off the ground.

Again, this character is a synthesis of a lot of different people here, but there are certainly familiar elements to his makeup. If you click on the poster, he is the manic lunatic in the loud Hawaiian shirt. Wait until we shoot the golf scenes . . . . .  

I've been blessed with the opportunity to hang out with many of the regulars here in the Treehouse, which has provided an incredible amount of material. It is a bit like the complexion and demographic of the Libertarian gatherings I've been attending as a form of religion since 1979. Believe it or not, there is a tremendous similarity between the two groups . . . . . . fringe crazies, one and all.

Including me.

I always did want to get into the movie biz, but without running the risk of waking up with a severed horse's head and jailbait in my bed some morning.  I trust there is little chance of either of those things happening if we play with Gib.  Who is in the Hawaiian shirt dude's regular foursome, and where does he play?  Any large Emporial men, at Rustic Meadows or some other fictional sort of literary devices?    You need a more believable name and he should be more dashingly handsome for the portly Irish cop at the door.

The one thing I am sure of is it will be well written. Gib is as gifted with the pen as anyone who ever typed a post on these pages. He introduced me to GCA while walking up the fairway on the 2nd hole at the Olympic Club many years ago. He has been a good friend ever since.

Thank for all the ongoing support. The Redhead now agrees that it was worth all the years I spent squabbling with everyone here. My daughter recently made the following observation after meeting a few of the Treehouse dwellers: "Dad, I really like your internet friends, but it is really obvious that all of them are weird and nutty like you. I see why you guys all get along."

I broke her in with a steady diet of Shivas as an opening gambit, but it may have been a couple days with Anthony Gray that pushed her over the edge. A Tommy Naccarato visit is next . . . . .

I want to thank everybody for your ongoing support for our project. Incidentally, the next scene we are posting (in three days) features a bored movie executive pining longingly for the golf course . . . . . suffering through yet another horrible pitch from the famous Rana Weber.

Not to be pedantic, but the copyeditor in me wants to give you a heads-up that there's a consistent typo in the descriptions of what people receive for contributing different amounts to the cause of "Writers Cramp."  When you tell prospective donors they will receive "IMBD" notoriety for their donation, I'm pretty sure it's supposed to say "IMDB," as in Internet Movie Database.

Seems like a cool concept for a movie.  I got a bit of a Woody Allen-type vibe from the trailer, and as a huge W.A. fan, that piqued my interest.  Best of luck.

I've always felt a connection to Gib. In the early days, my posts were occasionally mistaken as his by folks who just glanced at the names (note the similarity). Most people were too astute to make this mistake, but I always considered it the ultimate compliment on those rare occasions.

Thank you for the pledge. Finally getting back to what I was educated to do is incredibly exciting. I find it sort of amusing and ironic that while I consult with Neal Meagher on golf redesign, he is signed up to be on the production team for Writer's Cramp. I'm sure his input on the movie will be more far more useful than my hopelessly unrealistic hallucinations he endures during our site visits.

As to your other comment, at least your posts are cogent and unfailingly "on point" - as opposed to subjecting the reader to whatever debris happens to fall out of my scrambled cranium by accident.

Our own Bill Young, former Head Golf Professional at Silverado, is featured in an scene we strung together from unused portions of our Trailer. Click on "Updates" (link is above) and see if you can find the mistake. Most of us in the Treehouse are not easily fooled, but let's see how long it takes to catch the error.
