20 Rounds - 20 Courses
« on: March 19, 2012, 12:56:51 PM »
I am not sure I have ever done this before - my last 20 posted rounds are on 20 different courses (2 are at Ballyhack but from different tees and the two at Bunker Hills are different 18 hole combinations at a 27 hole course).  Seven states and three countries are represented.  The quality is generally high with a few clunkers mixed in.

If you ever want to legitimately sandbag, this is a good way to do it.  I probably will not be able to sign up for state qualifiers but I am looking forward to our club's opening event played with handicaps.

The list:

Callippe Preserve
Metropolitan Golf Links Club
Stanford University G C Men's
Casa De Campo - Teeth of the D
May River
Landings GC - Deer Creek
Cabo Del Sol Ocean Course
Providence GC
Kinloch GC
Ballyhack GC
Ballyhack GC
Shell Landing Golf Club
The Preserve Golf Club
Grand Bear
Fallen Oak Fallen Oak
The Oaks
Oak Ridge Country Club
Denver Country Club
Bunker Hills Golf Club North/E
Bunker Hills Golf Club East/We

How would you rank them?

It varied but there is a lot of cart golf on that list.

Nothing too shocking:

Kinloch, Casa de Campo, Cabo Del Sol, Fallen Oak and May River would be in the top tier.

Ballyhack, Stanford and Denver Country Club would be next.

I would return to any of the remaining courses and liked most of them.

No.  I can't remember why we went to Callippe instead.

Using vacation days strategically is the toughest challenge.  I do, however, use them all.  Three day weekends are my bread and butter.

My best was 33 courses in 33 days, from Minn down to Florida all thru the Midwest and SE. Never rained out. Idiot move by me.
Live Jupiter, Fl, was  4 handicap, played top 100 US, top 75 World. Great memories, no longer play, 4 back surgeries. I don't miss a lot of things about golf, life is simpler with out it. I miss my 60 degree wedge shots, don't miss nasty weather, icing, back spasms. Last course I played was Augusta

Mine were over six months.  I am finding 3 days in a row to be a stretch these days.

It's tough to compare to Bob McCoy playing the top 100 courses in the world in 100 days.

I had to cheat a bit - two different sets of tees at Ballyhack.

Calippe is better.  And it drains well in my experience.

Jason,

It's a good thing you said your last 20 handicap posted rounds. Otherwise I would have insisted that you break down the architectural magic of Mississippi Dunes.

Nice job Jason.  But it got me thinking and found I have done similarly a few times.  About five years ago I played 24 different courses in England and Wales in fourteen days and walked 'em all.  I did 20 in 21 days with my wife in Ireland and Scotland.  They were both great trips.

Nice!  I

have never set out to do something like this but checked my history a few times and found 16 courses in 20 rounds.  I realized a couple of weeks ago I was going to get to 20.  I generally prefer to repeat on one course if possible but this fall/winter has been different.  If the weather holds out I hopefully will break the string this weekend.
