Golfweek's Best 2012
« on: March 07, 2012, 05:29:15 PM »
Golfweek's updated top 100's are coming out this week. I don't believe they've been posted online yet, but if you're anxious for a sneak peek you can subscribe to the digital version of this issue for just $1.99. Just a friendly public service announcement. Hopefully no one will post the full list until it's out there publicly.

There's a nice article about Pete Dye and his 50 years in the business.

(if someone has a good link to the subscription page, please post. I can't get away from the mobile version of the site)

this is driving me nuts.  haven't got the print edition yet, bought one issue of the online edition but that's apparently the next one.  can't they make this thing user friendly?  it's rocket science apparently...Links100 here we come....

Wow, seeing the list like that reminded me that when Bandon Dunes opened in 1999, it was #2 Modern on the GOLFWEEK poll.

The amazing part is that all the courses that have moved in above it have been built since then, except possibly Whistling Straits which opened right around the same time as Bandon Dunes.

Oh, don't go all Dr. Gray on us, it's "Straits", and even though it's all manufactured and it's overly infused with sandy eye candy, I think it's just great.

His choice of undergraduate institutions will answer that question.
I get it, you are mad at the world because you are an adult caddie and few people take you seriously.

Excellent spellers usually lack any vision or common sense.

I know plenty of courses that are in the red, and they are killing it.

Chambers Bay @ #22. Wine Valley @ #84.  Check out the Newbie list

Wine Valley was not in the newbie list, because it was in the last top 100. Kalen's bad. It is good to see that it moved from #99 to #84. The raters really screwed up the Palouse Ridge and Wine Valley ratings the first year. They started to correct that last year by deservedly booting Palouse Ridge and moving Wine Valley deservedly up. It is good to see they continue to get this even more righter right.

If I recall, Ocean Forest had slid steadily down the rankings, and fell out last year.  Have changes been made -- why the resurgence?

Some good movement among the newbies.  Most impressive is Metedeconck, a RTJ Sr. design that was unranked last year.

Anyone know if they are listing 100 courses for Classic/Modern, or 200 as they did last year?
