I saw more of this tournament (on Sky) than I usually do of European tour events. I watched because of the human interest. But the course itself made no impression on me. Is it good, bad or indifferent?

I agree, I didn't see anything interesting about the golf course.  The pros spoke well about it, especially the greens which were very smooth.

The thing I saw it's wall to wall grass.   With all that sand, why can't they build a course in the desert that looks something like this?   Is there no market for it?

The 10th tee looked like it was in a forest.

It did look in good condition (I liked the sand in the bunkers - the pros really seemed to struggle spinning the ball out of them) but it was a very blahish course.

The story is that it'll be at Yas next year. Very, very good course. Kyle did an excellent job there.

I think it is an average course, which is what the one contributor who has been there said. Yet, that said what does one expect of a modern course in a country with minimal history with the game. Rock played great golf and deserved the win.

I don't know if I would go to Abu Dhabi specifically to play at Yas Links. But I think it has blown the rest of the courses in the Emirates out of the water, clearly the first world-class course in the region. World top 100? Probably not in my list, but I could see why it would make a magazine list, given their desire to have representation from lots of different regions.
