Tell that to Pine Valley, Augusta and Sand Hills.  Rated #1 course in the world (Golf Magazine), #1 course in America (Golf Digest)  and the #1 modern golf course (Golf Week).

  On the whole I would say water view courses are better.

I would disagree.  While the experience of playing a crappy course might be improved by nice views of the water, that doesn't make it a better course.
