Looking at the roster of Bay Area courses, can anybody fill in the blanks of who (or which firms) have done recent renovations/restorations (if any) w/in the past 5-8 years?

Harbottle did work at Orinda.  Currently John Fought is consulting there.

I have no idea who did the "hands on" work at Lake Merced.
I presume the work was done out of the RT Jones II office in Palo Alto, but I do not know how long Jay Blasi has been working there.

P.S. You could probably devote a whole thread to who has done the various work that has been done on the OC Ocean Course over the past 40-50 years! I believe Tom Weiskopf did the last major renovation on it (10 years ago?).

I think the last major work at Sonoma (20 years ago?), was done by the Robert Muir Graves firm. I believe Neal Meagher may have worked on that project while he was with Graves.

San Geronimo had a renovation/facelift 20-30 years ago, after it was bought by the guy who owned Sandpiper down near Santa Barbara. I don't know who did the work. Neal Meagher might know.

Are you seriously going to include Bill Love at Olympic Club?  That's an embarrasment.  Almost all the work was authorized by Pat Finlan, Love meerly made some drawings and cashed a check.

Meadow Club's work started in the late 1990's and was finished in 2001 I believe, that's beyond the "past 5-8 year" window you've noted.

That being noted, Monarch Bay was redone by Harbottle in 2001.

Wayne, I'm not sure where you are going with this but you probably need to focus on the top 50 or top 100 courses in the country or at least the top 20 in California.   

To me, all of these clubs are using 10 or so architects who have experience (and success) in classic restorations, except for one.  All of these clubs had extensive interviews with architects except for one and maybe Augusta?  All of these clubs had extensive participation by the board and/or green committee, except for one.

Graves did the work to San Geronimo in the late 80s.  I believe the main focus of the project was to install a new irrigation system, but they managed to mess up some greens in the process.

Meadow finished the bulk of their restoration work in 2005/6...but they continue to make large strides toward a complete vegetative restoration!

I too had down Rees for Lake Merced.

Likewise Graves for San Geronimo.  For whatever reason, Graves touched quite a few A.V. Macan courses.

I'm pretty sure it's been posted at one time or another that Mike DeVries did a couple of greens at Green Hills, but the club halted things after that.  I don't believe a full restoration has been done there.

I've heard Graves before for Sharp Park, but can't find anything on it.  When I told Sean Tully about it, he said he would love to see anything on this stretch.  If you have any references for this, definitely feel free to bring them up.

Is it normal even in a big metropolitan area to have THIS many renovations/redesigns to SO many courses in a 10-year period???
