Is it unusual to feel strangely deflated after a hole in one?

been lucky to have had 5 aces.  a long gap between the first one from age 16 to the second at age 34 (I had a hard time finishing the round).  my last one at Riverfront was on April 1, 2006 (very poetic) on the second hole.  very very good shot, but i was hitting a 6 iron directly into the afternoon sun and the green had been punched and dressed a few days before .... did not see it go in and but was still a bit stunned.

Mine happened on a hole at my old club that was 112 yards and very easy where there are dozens per year there. So it felt a bit cheap, maybe like 3/4 of a HIO.

That is awesome!  Jerry is a good guy.

My fondest memory of working at Evansville CC was pulling a cart out of the lake fronting the par 3 11th after a member got careless!

But back on topic, my lone hole in one occurred at Evansville CC but on the slightly uphill 16th.  I felt slightly deflated b/c it happened the day after the city tourney (which I had played in) but the pins were not in.  So I knew where the cup was pinned, but it still wasn't 100% satisfying as my 4 iron went in.

I like the funny ones:

My only one came on my second round of golf.  Laughed so much I made a 13 on the next hole.  The first one on a new course, so two firsts.  Basically quit the game for the next 20 years.

A local guy did win a car for an ace that first hit a pump house roof 30 yards left of the green.

Played a tournament with a guy who aced the same hole I did, only many years later.  He had a pop for a net zero.  We needled him so much about what it was going to cost him when he got to the house, he jumped in his car and headed home as fast as he could.  The best part of my game is jawbone.

I felt excited as we approached the green and couldn't see the ball.
I thought it went over the green so I looked there first and when I didn't see it, ran up to the hole and there it was.

I was never deflated and felt a little bit happier for the rest of the day.

#20?!  That's incredible!  You've got a long way to go to catch Scott Hoch though.    Supposedly he's averaged around one per year since high school.

As for myself, I've made two aces with the last one coming in 2000.  No deflation either as I birdied the next hole both times.

2) You say you "ran up to the hole!" There are many back here in the Garden State who claim they've NEVER seen you run anywhere!

3) #20.....Didn't think you were able to remember much past 18!

Yesterday I was hitting my irons really solid and was convinced that my iron game had returned.
Today, proved that thought wrong and my iron game remains a work in progress.
On the same hole today, I hit the same club and just missed a hole in one by three shots.

Which are more satisfying, the blind one's or the ones you've seen go in?

Jim,

They're both exciting, but in different ways.

The one's you see are great as you follow the ball's flight, and roll or bounce into the hole.

The blind ones are a pleasant surprise and there's an element of suspense as you think you've hit a good shot and maybe, maybe the ball is close or in the hole, so you're anxious to get to a vantage point where you can determine the outcome, and when the outcome is a hole in one, you're excited again.
