Can anyone clear up Willie Fernie's date of birth?

R&A Handbook 2011 gives 1851.
Wikipedia gives 1857.
Cornish and Whitten 1993 give 1858.

Grateful for any help received.

That seems to back up the 1851 date, but I'll wait to see if anything contrary is produced. I'm on a project at the moment and finding that a lot of the sources are well flawed!
