It is somewhat ironic that Beverly CC, located on the South Side of Chicago for over 100 years, does not pour the Southside. I'm guessing that those Long Island clubs do so because they are located on the South Side of Long Island, but that's a bit of a geographical guess on my part.
The irony about Beverly not pouring that concoction is that the club probably has a dozen cocktails named after members. The most common is the McFloody, named for Mike Floodstrand and Craig McDonnell, which has vodka, orange juice and ginger ale, if memory serves. There's also a Mango McFloody, which substitutes mango juice for the orange. The Coates special has vodka, grape juice and lemonade. There's also a T-Breeze which is a variety of a Sea Breeze cocktail which is particularly tantalizing on a hot summer day, just ask me. In any event I aim to correct the absence of the Southside on the South Side. But I'm using vodka, thank you very much!
