Bumping this thread as I always like hearing about where folks have been recently. Been a good year for golf travel. Last 10 notable for me:
You said "notable" above.  Did you play other courses that were less notable, and if so, would you share where?  I love seeing all the terrific courses everyone plays, but often find the "lesser" courses even more interesting, particularly when juxtaposed with top 100s.

My last 10:

Prairie Dunes (KS)
CC of Salisbury (NC)
Fort Mill GC (SC)
Minikhada (MN)
Windsong Farm (MN)
Kings Mountain GC (NC)
Royal Kaanapali (HI)
Kaanapali Kai (HI)
Kapalua Plantation (HI)
Lancaster GC (SC)
New for '24: Monifieth x2, Montrose x2, Panmure, Carnoustie x3, Scotscraig, Kingsbarns, Elie, Dumbarnie, Lundin, Belvedere, The Loop x2, Forest Dunes, Arcadia Bluffs x2, Kapalua Plantation, Windsong Farm, Minikahda...

Firestone (South) *
Firestone (North) *
Scioto
OSU Scarlet
Belvedere
Kingsley Club
Lochenheath
Arcadia South
The Loop (Red & Black)
Erin Hills *

* = first time on the course; absolutely LOVED Erin Hills and feel like it's somehow a bit underrated - that will be an annual venture for me going forward; my family history dates back to that area centuries ago so that land is in my DNA I suppose

The Loop has become my favorite course (I consider it one course) in Michigan the more time I spend there; I enjoy the original Forest Dunes very much but I simply can't pass up the chance to get more rounds on The Loop when I'm there; and while this is an unscientific breakdown the preferred routing in my golf group for The Loop is the RED course - this isn't a strong view or anything close to a consensus - but that seems to be the favorite if push comes to shove

impressed with Firestone - as mentioned in other threads on Firestone I have ended up missing the "classic parkland" golf layouts and it was nice to play that style again; i grew up playing at OSU and Firestone reminded me of OSU Scarlet - playing South and Scarlet on back-to-back days was certainly a harsh reminder of my average skill level

I enjoyed it quite a bit. The strategy of the course is a bit rudimentary but the setting is so spectacular you don't mind much at all. The routing is pretty interesting, starting on the cliffs then working down toward a coastal town, back to the cliffs, before going inland. They are sprucing up some of their finishing holes. The 17th is a new par-3 with a pretty backdrop and they are restoring an old stone wall as a feature on the 16th a la North Berwick.

Wonderful people though. If you go, don't miss The Old Commercial Bar just off the parking lot. Perhaps my favorite pub that we visited on our trip.

As its been wet recently, how did it play?
After my one autumnal visit I had trouble seeing it as a links and wonder how much those views elevate its rating?

Greatly enjoyed the welcome and informality.

I'm curious about what you made of Muir of Ord?
Apparenlty my father used to play there alternate days when the lack of bridges on the A9 meant a 2 hour drive to Dornoch from Inverenss.

Tommy,

Not that you are looking for a steady stream of income, but your wife would have a large annuity if she wanted one.  She could coach other amateur golfers' wives on their husbands, golf trips, attending many, and encouraging others.  It would be a WIN for everyone and your wife would have a lifetime annuity, even charitable if preferred.
