I'm going to slightly bend the rules and include the course I will play on Sunday. Listed oldest to newest.

Clovernook Country Club, Cincinnati, OH
Eagle Creek Golf Club, Willmar, MN
Island View Golf Club, Waconia, MN
Country Club of Buffalo, Williamsville, NY
St. Catharines Golf and Country Club, St. Catharines, ON
Keller Golf Course, Maplewood, MN
Royal Oaks Country Club, Vancouver, WA
Eugene Country Club, Eugene, OR
Midland Hills Country Club, Roseville, MN
St. Cloud Country Club, St. Cloud, MN

The best thing about this list is that there isn't a bad course there. Certainly some courses are better than others and some have a few holes that are clunkers, but there isn't a single course here that I wouldn't make a return visit to.

I don't have to play belt-notchers all the time, but I do try really hard to avoid bad golf courses.

I want to work out my last 10 for the first time in ages, only because Iam likely to be appalled by how far back it takes me.

Bonnie Doon (Sep '14)
The Lakes (June '14)
Shelly Beach (April '14)
St Michael's (March '14)
Oatlands (Feb '14)
Springwood (Jan '14)
NSWGC (Dec '13)
Ellerston (Oct '13)
Newcastle (Oct '13)
Royal Adelaide (Oct '13)

Almost a year to rack up 10 separate courses. For shame!

Thoughts about Peninsula on The Indian River Bay?

Carl: I enjoyed it. I played it with a bunch of our members while on our annual golf trip to the Ocean City, Maryland, area. It was one of the more moderate Nicklaus designs I've played. Architecturally, I preferred Bayside, but found The Peninsula much more playable. The members enjoyed The Peninsula more too because it wasn't as penal. Overall, it was a fun course...nothing spectacular , but enjoyable.

I had a similar reaction the one time I played it.  That was a few years ago -- they had already built some housing (both single family and condo buildings), but it looked like they had plans for a lot more.  Is the housing now a big drawback?

Carl: I played it last in October 2012...which goes to show you how much golf I've played in the last two years! There were some houses on the course, but there weren't a ton. Of course, the ones that were already built were HUGE, so it's not like you could miss them. They did indeed have a ton of other lots plotted out and those big movable scaffolding units in some spots so buyers could see what their upper porch view would look like. If they do build as many houses as it appeared as they might, it would be a real shame as it would destroy some of the views of the bay as well as other holes on the course.

Thought I'd put this together as my year will pretty much fade out from here:

Ballyhack
Hershey West
Hershey East
Ballyneal
Lehigh CC
CC of York
Lancaster CC
Lebanon CC
West Shore CC
Green Pond (Bethlehem Township, PA)

Good local golf coupled with a few trips. All in all a good year.

In checking my index history, I apparently have played exactly 10 different courses this season.

Credit goes to our 8-month old twins for cutting my golf travel radius and reminding me that the Chicago District has no shortage of high quality courses...

Dunes Club
Kingsley Club
Beverly
Skokie
Butterfield
Shoreacres
Chicago Highlands
Flossmoor
Olympia Fields, North
Knollwood

Sean

After the river hole is a short par 3.

7th/16th is the hole you mean I think.

Huge slope from left to right. Small green cut into the hill side. We are diametrically opposed in our tastes. The hole will be all I remember of the course it was truly one of the worst holes I've played. Nothing tee shot, that finishes in the same place no matter where you hit it. Followed by a shot up to a tiny green that repels the approach. Really didn't like it.

My last 10 are not too special aside from blue mound:  starting from most recent

Glencoe Golf Club (Tourney)
Ravisloe CC
Glencoe Golf Club (Tourney)
Shepards Crook
Steeple Chase
Harborside (Port)
Blue Mound
Green Acres CC
Green Acres CC
Mistwood

Mike - How is Green Acres (assuming you're referring to the club on Dundee Road in Northbrook)? I understand it's the only "Tillinghast" in Chicago. And figuring you're talking about the Glencoe Open, we must have been competitors as I played it too.
