Your Last Ten
« on: August 02, 2011, 04:54:57 PM »
Stemming from Mac's recent thread, someone made the comment that most of the folks on here generally play average courses.

Might as well take a survey.  What are the last ten courses you played?

Mine:

Ravisloe - 5
Thunderhawk - 5
Butler - 7
Shepherd's Crook - 6
Skokie - 7
Barnbougle Dunes - 9
Barnbougle Lost Farm - 8
Yarra Yarra - 6
St. Andrew's Beach - 8
Royal Melbourne West - 9

It's sad that this dates back now about 2 months, but with a recent move my golf has been limited. However, the courses I've played have been pretty solid with nothing near "average," IMO.

Rochester Golf & Country Club, MN
The Minikahda Club, MN
Interlachen Country Club, MN
Island View Golf Club, MN
Southview Country Club, MN
Keller Golf Club, MN
Big Fish Golf Club, WI
Northland Country Club, MN
Old Elm Club: Blue x 2
Shoreacres: Black, IL

Sadly this assignment was rather hard work for me...

Cabo del Sol Ocean (Cabo San Lucas, BCS, Mexico) - 8.5-9
Bahia de los Sueños (Los Planes, BCS, Mexico) - 6
Paraiso del Mar (LaPaz, BCS, Mexico) - 6
Cabo del Sol Desert (Cabo San Lucas, BCS, Mexico) - 7
Diamante (Cabo San Lucas, BCS, Mexico) - 8.5-9
Querencia (San Jose del Cabo, BCS, Mexico) - 5.5
Troon North - Pinnacle? (Scottsdale, AZ) - 6
Estrella Mountain Ranch (Scottsdale, AZ) - 6.5
Long Cove (Hilton Head, SC) - 7
May River (Bluffton, SC) - 7.5

I rarely travel with clubs and am now arguing/debating with my buddy whether we will trek up to Pittsburgh for Oakmont and Laurel Valley during our trip to Morgantown for the West Virginia-LSU game at the end of September. I am a heavy "no" lean on the golf but looking at my list above... perhpas I should reconsider... you know... broaden my horizons and all.

Patrick:

Thanks for adding the Doak scale scores.  I'm going to edit my original post to include them and hope people do so going forth.

Doesn't have to be Doak's score, just your own analysis using the 10 pt. scale.

Just to clarify those are my own scores using the Doak scale. It will be interesting to see the average of everyone's 10.

Wow, who said this? Could be the envy in me speaking, but it doesn't seem like this group plays average golf courses very often.

I don't know if I could even come up with mine, it would stretch over 7-8 years, probably. Here's a guess:

Pittsburgh North (pretty weak mom and pop'er up north here)
North Park GC (my home muni)
Mountain Ridge (woo hoo! This one rocked)
Pete Dye Golf Club
Mystic Rock
Pensacola CC
Hidden Creek
Grayhawk - Raptor Course
Las Sendas
Eagle Mountain

Not a bad list, though it would be a lot better if it were over a few months, as opposed to almost a decade... :)

EDIT: Damn, forgot about a golf trip with the friends, had to edit out the NM trip.

Palouse Ridge
Qualchan Creek - A fun 1990s style Spokane muni

Onion Creek Club (TX) - Home club.  27 holes.  Do the different course combinations count?
Twin Creeks Country Club (TX) - Sister Club
Ballyneal (CO)
Barnbougle Dunes (Tassie)
Lost Farm (Tassie)
13th Beach - Beach Course (VIC, Australia)
River Place (TX) Sister Club

4 Doak's if you include #11 and 3 C&C's if you include #12 + a C&C remodel and 9 holes. #Trend?
