I've got a 2:00pm tee time at Lost Dunes Golf Club on Tuesday 8/16 if any of you are interested in joining me. The cost is $110 (accompanied guest rate) plus $25 for a forecaddie.

Please IM me if you are interested.

Any suggestions on where to play on Monday? I have an invitation at Olympia Fields but they are closed on Mondays.  :'(

I should have asked for Monday suggestions near Chicago as I'm flying into Midway on Sunday afternoon.

I thought about taking in a baseball game on Sunday night but, alas, the Cubs are out of town and the Sox play in the afternoon!  :'( Foiled again!

Ravisloe or Cog Hill #4 would be your best public bets in and around Chicago.  Some private clubs might let you out Monday but that's hit or miss.

Jud, have the greens come back at Dubs?  I played it a week after the BMW last year and they were in pretty bad shape.

Don't know, but they were good earlier this season.  Also, the Glen club and Harborside would be my fallback options...

Jud, have the greens come back at Dubs?  I played it a week after the BMW last year and they were in pretty bad shape.

I played it in mid-June, and again on July 10th, and they were really good both times (maybe a touch better in June).  For that June round, they were in the best shape I've ever seen, and I've been playing there a few times per year for the last 8 years or so.  Don't know how they've held up to the recent weather, but we're supposed to have a pretty good stretch here for the next few weeks, so I suspect they'd be good by that week.

And they were horrendous last year.  The turnaround this year was really remarkable, in my opinion.  A buddy of mine is playing there on Sunday, so I can get the low-down from him.

I played in an event at Dubs last weekend, and the new super they brought in from Muirfield Village is doing a great job. Despite a brutal stretch of weather over the past couple of weeks, the greens were very good to outstanding, particularly in light of what happened out there last year. It still amazes me, however, that people who pay $155 to play a golf course are unable/unwilling to fix their damn ball marks.

Terry,

I hate it, but my buddy and I cannot make it.  Thanks so much for the offer!

Looks like we have six foursomes.  We will tee off at 1:00 Michigan time, which is one hour later than Chicago time.  Please note that difference.  We'll grab some beverages after golf and then head to Casey's for dinner around 6:30.  Please PM me with any other requests and especially if you're in for golf at Pottawattomie the following morning so I can get a final count.

Is there a reserve list (to fill cancellations)?

Here are the foursomes with hole assignments for next Wednesday's event.  Shotgun start at 1:00 Michigan time, which is one hour later than Chicago time, please make note.  I've made the hole assignments in an effort to spread us out over the course, but the pro may change that at the last moment.  Also, we still have a couple people up in the air (Ken Fry and maybe an extra with John Kirk), but we can adjust that on the date of the event.

HOLE 1:
RICK HOLLAND
JOHN KAVANAUGH
BILL SEITZ
JOHN MAYHUGH

HOLE 1:
MARK O'TOOLE
ZACK MOLNAR
MICHAEL WHITAKER
SVEN NILSEN

HOLE 6:
PETER THOMPSON
DAVE GOICH
JOHN KIRK
HOWARD RIEFS

HOLE 6:
CHRIS BLAKELY
RYAN KELLY
SEAN HEENAN
BILL STEELE

HOLE 8:
TERRY LAVIN
MICHAEL GEORGE
AARON LEPP
JIM FRANKLIN

HOLE 8:
STEVE SALMEN
ANDREW CALCUTT
JON HEISE
MIKE YOUNG???

Terry, Bill Seitz is a fine player and all, but I'm betting even he isn't capable of teeing off on both the first and fith holes at the same time.

Have a great day out there fellas, and bring your straight balls. . . there's nothing good that happens when you miss fairways at the Dunes Club.

Well, I've never tried, but I would have been willing to give it a shot.  I don't run quite as fast as I used to, but I can still be sneaky quick from time to time.

Thanks for setting this up.  I am really looking forward to meeting everyone and enjoying a great day.

Mike, I wish I could join you at Lost Dunes, but my wife and 5 kids don't let me get away as long as I would like.
