The Dunes Club is such a unique place and this is a great offer.

I hope all of you don't try to go into the pro shop at the same time!  For those of you that don't know, you'll see.   8)

Also one of the best designed small modern clubhouses I've seen:

I don't get jealous very often.  I'm jealous.  What a generous offer your honor.  All who've not experienced Dunes Club will have the time of their lives.
I get it, you are mad at the world because you are an adult caddie and few people take you seriously.

I know plenty of courses that are in the red, and they are killing it.

All I can say is, I am still in. Beautiful pictures. Definitely a Pine Valley look to it.

Since we're posting pictures on this thread, some of you might be interested in this video as it has quite a few shots of the course:

http://www.americangolfleague.com/video.html

A long story short, at one point someone wanted to build a team golf league using club professionals as the players. My boss was in the top 10 in Illinois at the time and was asked to play, and I ended up tagging along to loop for him. For some reason this really goofy event was held at the Dunes. The event was probably most memorable for the prior night out with a few of the Chicago PGA guys at a place called "The Bar" in New Buffalo, followed by a late night and underage visit to a local casino. So if you look closely you can spot a young HO Pat Craig.

Also, someone mentioned it earlier in the thread, but I've made no secret for my love of all things Redamaks. Certainly worth a stop when you out of town guys are in the area.

Pat,

I love New Buffalo, but Redamaks is vastly overrated IMO.  Was there a few weeks ago and will not be going back anytime soon....

Jud,

Perhaps it's because I'm usually there after playing one or more rounds of golf before visiting, but those greasy little burgers always hit the spot. Gourmet they are not, but I think they are pretty darn tasty with a side of chili cheese fries!

Pat,

Don't have a problem with greasy, just wish the quality and taste were there as well.  Redamaks is an institution up there and was ahead of the curve on the burger craze.  Unfortunately, now that real chefs are making comfort food to fit the economic times, we know what's possible in a humble burger....

Terry,

Again, thanks for this great offer.  My friend's name is Brian Craig.  We are not 100% yet, but looks pretty good right now.  I have played the course several times, so if you do end up having to turn people away, I can bow out.  Also, I will be out of town with not much computer time, so if any updates happen, I will respond late next week.

No...just a cart bag. We didn't have any pros playing that day--the last bunch of photos was from my round in 2004.

PS: I echo the comments of the others--those attending are in for a treat. The course itself is good, but the experience even better!

Looks like I will be able to make it after all.  Thanks again for setting this up.  May have to break out a little something from the cellar to show my appreciation...

I've been told that we can accommodate as many as seven foursomes, so everybody on the list is "in" as of now, although there will likely be subtractions.

A couple housekeeping matters.  We'll be able to keep the fee right around $150 due to the kindness of my fellow members, Holland and Lesnik, but everybody is required to take and pay a caddie, so please factor that in when looking at your commitment.  No carts are permitted at Dunes Club.  We will probably play a shotgun start at 1:00 and a cheeseburger/chicken sandwich lunch will be served en masse at noon.

We will have dinner at Casey's Bar & Grill (only five minutes away) starting at 6:30 local time.  I'll work on a price for that as well, but we'll keep it reasonable, with a set food price and a cash bar.

So far, I've booked three foursomes for golf the next morning at Pottawattomie.  Carts are available.  We could probably add to that if need be.  Please let me know via PM whether you want to play the next morning.  And PM or email (terrencelavin@gmail ) me with any other administrative matters so we don't bore the rest of the DG with the boring details.

Woo Hoo!!!

Before I book my airline ticket... will there be any pre or post event golf in the offing?

Here's my best guess:  I think we'll have several groups play Pottawattomie, a private club about fifteen minutes away, toward Chicago.  It's an old layout, with a lot of great holes, maybe three wacky greens, but a lot of fun, very low key and it's very affordable by private club standards.  Not sure at this point who will play both days, but I can't help but think that it makes sense to play early the next day and they have people head back to the airport.  I'll tentatively make arrangements to book three foursomes.

Terry, e-mail sent. I am in for Dunes Club.

Thanks! Rich

Please IM me if you are interested.

Any suggestions on where to play on Monday? I have an invitation at Olympia Fields but they are closed on Mondays.  :'(

Great invite! If I only didn't have to work!  You may want to check out C&C's Warren Course at Notre Dame or Devries' Mines Course in Grand Rapids.  Also IM me if you're looking for Foodie rec's in Chicago...

Don't ask Jud for restaurant recs...he doesn't know what he's talking about ;) :)

BTW, made a trip to DMK Burger as recommended by Jud and Bill S when I was back in town in late May... let's just say I still have Kuma's ranked as the Cypress Point burgers in Chicago burgers, while DMK might be The Glen Club range - lots of style, little substance!!!  ;D

Mike:

Check out Point O' Woods (private) or Harbor Shores (public) in Benton Harbor, MI. Or the Warren Course (public - C&C) in South Bend about 30-45 min away.
