my vote is Yeamans, as it's the better redan.  i'm not sure what is the better hole though.

I think that is the best line I have ever heard in this competition.
Its not necessarily the better hole, but we are looking for the better redan

The shape of the green at YHC is a bit odd.  I am not convinced one can hit the front of that green with a draw and get right to the back.  If it can be done, it takes a far better golfer than myself.  Its the same with the aerial route.  Hitting that back target is very difficult.  All in all, trying to access the back hole location is much harder than at North Berwick.  I would also say the penalty for a miss is much harder than at North Berwick.  Those rear bunkers are no joke and it takes a terrific shot just to hold the green from back there.  Still, I do think this is a Redan and a very good one at that even if a bit severe.  The water at FI puts me off that hole.  Yeamans Hall.

BTW - No, YHC's 5th is not an Alps as blindness is a prime consideration of the template - tee hee.

Ciao
I have played #6 at YH more than I care to remember. It has been my experience that virtually any kind of shot can work on that hole. I have watched a great player hit a mid-iron to the front portion of the green with the perfect amount of draw, only to watch his ball catch just enough downslope to go bounding to the back of the green, leaving a 50 foot putt. In the same group, a far-less accomplished player topped a four-iron and watched his ball land 30 yards shot of the green, barely crawl to the top of the highest section of the front-right portion of the green, catch the slope, and then trickle down to the hole, coming to rest 3 feet away from the flag. one of the charms, for me at least, of a hole like #6 at YH is the fact that a weaker player need not have to hit a perfect iron shot to be rewarded with a birdie. The better player decided to play the hole just like virtually every other par 3 hole in America, by throwing it up in the air and flying it to his target. The weaker player, although he did not hit a perfectly struck shot, benefitted from the topography of the hole. Before going to work at YH, I had never played a golf hole that allowed me to actually THINK about my OPTIONS for playing the hole. #6 (and the Biarritz #16) at Yeamand Hall changed everything for me.

Kevin just put into words why I love Redan holes, and he used some great words which I will group into a phrase: "the charm of a weaker player being rewarded by the topography." That is why I prefer Redans with real kick mounds off the green, because it is a feature that strong players ignore (due to today's ball and equipment) but shorter hitters still use. That is why I downgrade a great golf hole like Pac Dunes 17, because the ball will not feed to the green from the right side, only a rolling ball on the green feeds left.

The other thing I like about Redans is that they can really fool an unsuspecting A player. Looks like a draw shot, but most time that produces too much roll, or they can never force themselves to aim far enough right. That's why I've come to believe that if you are going to carry the ball in the air to the green, the best shot by far is a fade.

10 to 1 Yeamans to Fisher. I thought this would be a closer match. But you still have some time to vote!

I haven't played Fishers, but what's up with that bunkering on the left?  It looks very strange for a Raynor layout.

Not that it changes anything but it looks to me as if the satellite photo is capturing standing water in the two bunkers.  Just an optical illusion.

Its both.

There is standing water in one of those bunkers...but what looks like the "water" in the previous photo is actually grass tongues.  Here's a different view.

P.S.  If you look close you can see some standing water in that top bunker.
