Thinking on this, do folks think there is any difference between great and compelling?  I am thinking of a some courses such as Pennard, Brora, Kington and dare I say Painswick which are thrilling and perhaps even more entertaining than many a great course, but yet not great.

I think there is Sean. I would not consider Crail a great course but I find it very compelling. I think compelling is the word I have been looking for in some of my earlier posts.
