Art,

I thought you had teamed up with Greg Martin?  No new business name to reflect that?

Serious question:  how many guys on this list are fluent in Chinese or at least decent at it or taking classes.

The first really competent Chinese architect may present a significant competitive hurdle in the biggest market the industry has right now...

Nai Chung "Lee" Chang, ASGCA was born in Tawain and is fluent in Chinese and several dialects. (We worked together in Willard Byrd's office in Atlanta for many years.) Most of his work has been in China since he's been out on his own.

Scott,

Still no Kelly Blake Moran?
In June I will be riding the first three stages of this year's Tour de France route for charity.  630km (394 miles) in three days, with 7800m (25,600 feet) of climbing for the William Wates Memorial Trust (https://rideleloop.org/the-charity/) which supports underprivileged young people.

Fine Design maybe the best named company but I will win the longest named company. I use to get tired just answering the phone, but now it doesn´t ring anymore. Good morning, American golf course design and construction, how may I direct your call....Randy Thompson please...ok one moment....put them on hold...I answer but in a deeper voice..., as I sit in my 4 by 4 office with one chair and a card board box for a desk! But WTF, I am having fun!

Wow, you have a desk?  I like using my laptop in my big recliner with wide arm rests - much easier on my back. My desk is just a place for stacks of stuff I should round file.  Maybe I'll do that today.  Thanks for the inspiration Randy.  PS, I like answering the phone with a generic "Hello", it really throws the cold-calling salespeople for a loop.

Paul,

Thanks, hope you are doing well and hanging in there.

Jeff,

Yes, Greg and I have a partnership and we still have our individual companies/projects as well.  I don't think Greg is active on GCA so I didn't include our partnership...
...(implying that I am "active" on GCA probably isn't totally accurate either as I look at how many posts I have!)...

Tim and Randy, I guess we could start a new thread "golf designers...how has your office evolved during the downturn?" or some such silliness...I guess it just helps to vent...or maybe not!
