Your opinion on the Get To Know series is requested...
« on: March 14, 2011, 04:07:20 PM »
Down and dirty, folks - is it worth continuing? I think there are more than a few participants who would make a good thread, but I don't want to do it if it's viewed as an indulgence of mine.

Please let me know you thoughts; send me a message if you'd quietly like to volunteer (nothing revealed).

Enjoy the day.

If possible ... among the willing, I say go for it ...

There are a lot of courses and people behind them that I would not know about except for this site.

Now that all the People magazine readers have spoken, ;) I will just say I think it is an indulgence.

George,

I liked it and wouldlike to see it continue.
In June I will be riding the first three stages of this year's Tour de France route for charity.  630km (394 miles) in three days, with 7800m (25,600 feet) of climbing for the William Wates Memorial Trust (https://rideleloop.org/the-charity/) which supports underprivileged young people.

I've enjoyed a good number these George, so I vote....sure!

George - I don't think anyone sees it as an indulgence of yours; and even if it was, that would be a very good reason to keep it going -- i.e. if you're interested that's good enough for me

But since you're asking, I say drop it.  It's just one more thread about gca.com; another thread about US, talking about ourselves.  If I can't figure out all I need to know about a poster from his posts, reading his life story -- in his own words -- isn't going to help me much.

Ok, 16-2, and let's face it, John's gonna hate me no matter what, so it's more like 16-1. Sorry, Peter. :)

I'm going to contact a few of the people I left hanging last fall and try to restart sometime soon. Thanks for the input and thoughts.

Agree with paragraph 1--disagree with paragraph 2.

I too would like for Peter P. to be the subject of a GTK thread.

My own indulgence would be a GTK thread on Pat Burke as I always like to hear about golf course design as seen through the eyes of someone who really knows how to play.

I agree with your first point Peter
And I would agree with your second point more if we could click on the person's name and see their last 10,20,50,100 posts like the good old days.

George - no hard feelings I hope. My vote is also for Pat Burke - like Jeff, the experience of the top player is something we can get no where else.

None at all, Peter, I understand your point, and I'm pretty sure I understand John's, too. I kind of even agree with John, I just think the overriding desire of others to learn more about their fellow posters takes precedence over his disdain for me. And I agree with Mike's last post, too.

You gotta work harder than that to offend me... Ask Matt or John for tips! :)
