Can someone tell me what's the carry off the tee to hit over the Alps bunker at St Enodoc ?

I see the hole listed at 378 yards and just wanted to know.

thanks,

The "carry" would have to be 50 feet high in the air so add another 50 yards to the carry.
I want to say it's about 100 yards out from in the bunker but  that's nowhere near close to a carry.

The match is tied at 5-5! The voting ends on Friday night!

Likely if someone could carry that distance then getting to the green could well happen.

Just wanted to get some idea -- hope to be playing there later this summer.

thanks,

Haven't played Enodoc but it does look like a great hole.  Nonetheless, OM16 is one of my favorites as well at BD and I agree that hitting far right does not make the hole play easier.

I will vote for the 16th at Old Mac because of green at Old Mac is better than the small green at St. Endoc. I have played Old Mac but can only judge St. Endoc from photos and other commentary.

I also think Old Mac is a better hole because of the bunkers front and right. The one thing I do like about St. Endoc is the bunker in the dune which adds a little intimidation but really does not add anything to the value of the hole.

This is kind of liking picking teams to advance in the NCAA tournament. Lots of good holes with a few flaws. We each like holes or teams for different reasons.

Scott:

Sadly, that bunker used to be the BEST thing about the hole.  It was just a raw scar in the dune, running all the way up to the tippy top.  The club formalized it a few years ago [trying to stop sand erosion, I guess] and destroyed the natural look of it.

Old Mac advances on a last minute surge 7 to 5. Will go against #1 Prestwick next week.
