Not a fan but before giving up soccer to concentrate on rugby my eldest son used to play fixtures against their junior teams. The coal mining towns north of Newcastle (and indeed those in County Durham, too) really can be godforsaken places and Bedlington is right up there. I'm sure this has caused a stir in Bedlington, indde I'm somewhat surprised not to have heard moer about it here in Newcastle.
