Ummm I don't know if I would include tpc snoqualmie or Torrey pines in this list. Though they are are in pretty settings, they lack good architecture. Both courses are filled with bland holes that can put you to sleep. My choices would also include stone eagle, chambers bay, rock creek,  meadow club, cabo del sol

I played Swinley when the rhododendrons were in bloom and on a very sunny day ... it was breathtaking. Another course to add to this list would be Leatherstocking with the views one gets playing the back 9.

I am surprised that no one has mentioned Portrush.  Aside from the trailer park across the road from #1 and the tourist center near the end the entire course is stunning and the views of the cliffs and causeway are outstanding.  The golf is better than good.  In the States, Pasatiempo is notable by its absence.  Perhaps the housing is a slight distraction but I think the overall setting is special.

Definitely!  The walk from 15 to 16 is as good as any in golf.

Mid Ocean Club and Royal Dornoch (in early summer) win this contest in my book.

Shinnecock. Totally ensconced in fescue beauty with that clubhouse up on the hill.  Beats any ocean view I've seen.  I also love some of te views at Woking when the heather is blooming like 6 and 11tees. Totally secluded with wonderful heathlands golf vistas.

The Panorama Course at The Balsams on northern NH. A good Ross course carved out of the North Woods. Stunning views of New England and Canadian wilderness from the hilltop clubhouse.

John,

I would just prefer to think I was very, very lucky to live in a really, really good neighborhood.

The house you own will remain, you will not.

I laughed first at Mike's response then saw this retort.  Awesome.

On topic, I'll throw out Sagebrush in British Columbia, Canada as one that hasn't yet been mentioned but meets the requirements of the O.P.

Kauri Cliffs used to be considered quite the hottie before the Victoria's Angel supermodel (Cape Kidnappers) moved into the neighborhood. You could argue the view onto the Bay of Islands from KC is at least the equivalent of anything you'd see from CK.

Apart from that, the view from the practice tee at the National is rather spectacular.
Next!

Peter,

Guess it depends on your definition of the word "good." I think most would agree Torrey and Snoqualmie Ridge are good....maybe not great...just good.

There are so many to mention - thought I'd get a more obscure NW addition in there.  Sno Ridge on a clear summer day is quite stunning.  I did forget to put Tumble Creek in there - amazing place.

Really, does no one include TOC?  It isn't beautiful in every direction you look on every hole, but if you think of the Old Course Hotel as the mole on Cindy Crawford's face, I think it qualifies ;D

I think the view from the 18th tee is one of the most beautiful in the world, just because there's this built up historic town just sitting alongside the course.  If you had specified nature's beauty I'd exclude it, but since you did not...
