******UPDATE - LATEST IMAGE FROM SUN MOUNTAIN - SWIFT X BAG WITH 2 GCA LOGOS******

AT THIS STAGE THE BAG IS MORE LIKELY TO BE THE SUN MOUNTAIN SWIFT X IN BLACK WITH TWO LOGOS.

This bag has been given approval from Ran.

Here is an image of the Superlight SLX version below which is $30 more expensive and will require a minimum of 6 interested parties.

ONE ISSUE IS THE SHIPPING COSTS – I SUGGEST THAT WE ALL PAY THE SAME PER BAG AND THE GCA’ERS FROM THE COUNTRY WHERE THE BAG IS MADE MAKE A CONTRIBUTION TO GCA AND THE GCA’ERS WHERE THE BAG IS SHIPPED TO PAY FOR THE FULL COSTS.

It has been suggested that each bag with GCA contribution/shipping costs to be $150 each (please let me know if you are still interested?)

I have given a personal message to interested parties in the UK with a choice of going with Ping or Sun Mountain

Cheers
Ben

Dear GCA,
I have initiated a separate thread to show the list of people interested in an updated version of the fabled 'GCA' Bag.
This is to give us an idea of numbers for a potential batch order. Could you let me know on this thread so I can add to the list.

The images below shows a design that I came up with after reviewing the response received from GCA’ers (this is not the final one)
It can be either in black or navy blue (I think navy blue is better with the GCA red logo). I have tried to keep it simple and in keeping with the new logo etc. I thought about using the flags on the larger apparel and accessory pockets but thought it would be better more simplified and just use the flags on the smaller ball pocket. I have 2 options for the logo location on the large pocket.

Proposed GCA bag – Navy blue version.

Original GCA bag – Sun Mountain organised by Jerry Kluger

Cheers

Ben thanks for trying to get this going.

As much as I'd like to be helpful and not set my own parameters...

I'm in....but only for the Sun Mountain/Titleist smallest bag with legs version.

Sorry but I just wouldn't use any other bag.

It's the same bag, Sun Mountain makes it for Titleist.

Ben,

Happy Holidays! Thanks for starting the discussion.

I'm interested, but a carry stand bag, about 3.5 lbs tops. gives the best of both worlds in my view. Too small, and it really can't have much function beyond the quick spin use.  Too big, and well...just call it AmericanTourister. Sun Mountain used to make a 3.0 lb. bag for Ping, the "L8+", which was the bomb...absolute best, most efficient bag I've ever used/seen. Of course they dropped it.
Having done the job for a living, for decades, it has been frustrating for caddies and regular walking golfers, to see the Hoofers and other nonsense, masquerading as a true carry bag, when they're down right uncomfortable in many cases. They keep trying to come up with these other offerings...none have come close to matching that bag.

The conversion option to a quality, single strap is essential. No light, carry stand bag needs a double strap, though the industry has done a nice job of forcing that down our throats, much like the soft-spikeitis mantra that leads to nightmarish putting surfaces in wet weather conditions. Oh I know, the double-strap disciples will howl about back strain, lower lumbar protection etc...have at it, for most of us over 35, you have to be Gumby to get that contraption on or off. Ever try and play while trying to use an umbrella in a breeze, when carrying a double-strap bag...the defintion of futility.
Caddies and any adult who's not Houdini, worldwide, HATES the double strap crap...nuff said.

Keep us posted!

Jerry is still involved, as he did a fantastic job with the previous GCA bag and his link to Sun Mountain is important.

At this stage it is more likely to be a lightweight stand bag - manufacturer, logo and colour to be agreed at later date.

I would be up for a McKennon or McKenzie GCA bag. I know thewalkinggolfer.com offered a similar type bag that looks great and isn't too expensive.

I'm interested, I think the Swift X or something similar would be ideal for this group.

Double Ditto!!! That Swift X is solid, just wish it was a smidge bigger, but the best out there at present for the walker.

If Ran is okay with it how douchey would it be if we also did GCA headcovers? Maybe Illiacs, AM&E's, Jan Craigs, or Rocket Tours?

The 2011 Sun Mountain Swift X is bigger - the top went from 7.5" to 8.5". Great improvement.

I would be interested as well - small and light but enough room for a full set.

Thanks for the update JB! A good call by Sun Mountain. Maybe after the Ryder Cup rainsuit debacle, they're listening more now. I tried to give them some solid feedback in the past and they "knew"it all...not!!!

Interesting if McKennon is doing Bandon's bags, as Sun Mountain had been previously to my knowledge, though they may use several vendors? Anyone who works there have the inside scoop on that one?

Kris-

You are giving them way too much credit for listening, the 2011 Swift X was developed long before the Ryder Ciup fiasco :)
I'm not sure what company Bandon is using for their bags although it will be easy for me to find out. I was out there in August and it seemed like there were more Ping bags than anything else but I could be wrong.

McKennon is doing a caddy bag for Bandon with input from the caddies....that's all I know...

Bandon usually has Titleist, Sun Mountain and a couple McKenzie leather bags available. Last I knew the pro shops were sponsored by Titleist .....

To make it simple, why not the same bag as the last one?  If not available, the equivalent current model.  It's an attractive, neutral bag that comes highly recommended and the price was good as well.

I bought one from the last go round, and it has proved to be a good one.  That being said, I would be interested in this offering as well.
