You can always tell the guy who's trying to impress others with the logos he's wearing because:

1) They are all "name" courses: Merion, CPC, PV, etc... that get comments from others
2) All of his clothes look perfectly pressed and it's obvious that the guy only brings out the shirt for special occations.
3) He's wearing 4 different logos
4) He has at least a dozen bag tags bouncing around on his bag.
5) He only carries ball markers with course logos on them
6) His golf bag has a course logo

The miscreant is signaling that he wants to regale you with stories about the famous courses he has played. It's like hanging a sign around your neck, "Please ask me about my golf trips."

I like it when guys wear lots of logos and have lots of bag tags.  It gives me an opportunity to discuss the courses they've played and hear about their experiences and share mine.  I'm happy for people when they play great courses and I love to hear their stories and sometimes the recognition of a bag tag or a logo will start that conversation. 

What great memories we all have when we play golf and play golf at great places.  It is great to have these items that will take us back to that round or that course, even for a second.  I keep my bag in my trunk and everyday when I put my work bag in the trunk I see my Merion bag tag and I smile, thinking about the great round and the great people I shared that day with.  Few things are better than seeing some other person's bag tag and hearing their stories as well.

I've been to some "power" logo get togethers in the past, with maybe the member-guests at Shoreacres, TCC-Brookline, and Forest Creek taking the cake for club events.

I once played, quite by accident, with a guy who carried a Cypress Point golf bag.  I wonder how many people have asked him if he is a member.

One of the surprises to me from all my years in golf is the quality of a Slazenger shirt.  I wear my Ballyneal shirt for this reason an inordinate amount of time.  Last night, while throwing dice, a compatriot asked me where the course was and then went on to assume I was from Colorado visiting family.  I took the fact that he did not think I was a fellow local as a compliment.

I'm sure Pat would consider the man a rube for not getting a better deal from TGW.com.  I wear too many logo's from clubs where I am a member, have even won people money betting on what I would have on at a GCA outing.  But where the hell else is a guy like me going to shop, have you ever seen the crap the local casino haberdasher carries?  I just noticed that today I am wearing a shirt from a club where I am a former member, I hope it lasts because I ain't going back.  Through my own choice of course.

I think you guys have it all wrong on power logos.

I'd much rather play with the guy that show up with a pine valley hat, CPC shirt, and NGLA wind top than the guy that walks up to the tee with a Wild Horse hat, Lawsonia Links shirt, Rustic Canyon belt buckle, and Longshadow embroidered leather MacKenzie bag.

The second guy just screams, "I know more about golf course architecture than you."

The logo with no name is usually for members only and highly coveted.  Anthony Gray attempted to purchase such at one of my clubs and I quickly got it out of his hand before he made it to the counter.  I got member of the month for that move.

Was at a normal weekend at Oakmont this summer and saw more Pine Valley logos in one place than ever before.  I guess to an Oakmont member the use of the "Power Logo" is from a select group(4 courses)!!

Using other people's logos to talk about your experiences has to be one of the most selfish acts I've heard described on this site.  One of the things I learned early on was that when people talk about their vacation at work it isn't because they want to hear about yours.  It is because they want you to listen to their story.  I bet you don't even let the poor guy telling his story about Seminole finish describing his putt before you jump in.

Power Logo Etiquette.

What is protocal on Power Logo Etiqutte when playing as a guest in a Member/Guest? Do you wear the logo of the club you belong to (if any), do you wear the logo of the club where you are playing or do you just try to dress nicely and not draw attention to yourself?

One thing for sure: matching outfits at Member/Guest are as taboo as matching Speedos, though I damn near bought matching Ian Poulter outfits a couple of years ago as a joike but the joke, ultimately, would have been on me.......

I believe any large meeting of men is served well by homoerotic humor.

A couple of years ago Kyle and I are at a Rockets game, we are around the bar in the club level when he runs up to me. I am busy looking at the cleavage of the redhead next to me when Kyle informs me that he has spotted a guy with a Cypress Point logo, he wanted to go talk to the guy and I was more interested in the redhead. The next time I went to a Rockets game I wore a Ridgeview Ranch shirt on purpose, I have Brauer's back.

My daughter keeps giving me Royal New South Wales shirts that are too small for my American sensibilities.  My wife says that Australians wear their shirts and clothes in general on the tight side.  I know that if I live long enough they will eventually fit.
