Help Needed Identifying GCA's for a 11 Lesser Known Tracks
« on: November 12, 2010, 10:28:00 AM »
I'm currently working on a personal list of courses played, and am trying to organize the list to see how many course I have played by a given architect.  The 11 lesser known routing below are the last of the list, but I cannot find a listed architect(s) for any of them.  Does anyone out there recognize the courses listed and/or know the responsible architects?  Consider this a challenge!

Cape Ann Golf Course Ipswich, MA*
Cobleskill Golf & Country Club Cobleskill, NY
Elmcrest Country Club Longmeadow, MA....Geoffrey Cornish?
Granite Fields Golf Club Kingston, NH
Grassmere Country Club Enfield, CT*
Jefferson District Park & Golf Course Falls Church, VA*/**
Olde Salem Greens Golf Course Salem, MA*
Southwick Country Club Southwick, MA
University Club of Connecticut, The Willimantic, CT (Formerly Willimantic CC)
Weekapaug Golf Club Westerly, RI*
Willow Brook Golf Course South Windsor, CT**

I have seen Olde Salem Greens credited to Stiles and Van Kleek and Cape Ann credited to Skip Wogan.

Nick,
Cobleskill is an old nine by Len Rayner and I'll see if I can find out who did the new nine.

Jim, Thanks.  I played there in 2001 when I was looking at colleges (SUNY Cobleskill).  The only thing I remember about Cobleskill CC was the fact that the new holes (3-4, 11-17) looked and played completely different from the original holes.

Nick,
Grassmere is a Cornish design.

Yes, those are the new holes at Cobleskill.

You can't exhaust the internet  ;D

CtGolfer had some info about Willow Brook, and a complete list of Cornish courses showed Grassmere as his, but Elmcrest isn't on that list.

Secors Brothers for Elmcrest. I don't know if that's one man, brothers, or a company.

edit: 'The' doesn't preface 'Secors Brothers' in any of the places I looked.

Has anyone played Weekapaug since the work by Dave Zinkand, and what did you think.

Nick,

Grassmere (CT) is Geoffrey Cornish, 1965

Unfortunately, that's all I have at the moment.
