Ryan - thanks for mentioning that. I have no idea how to pronounce Sebonac.  (Oh my god - what if I'm invited and get the name wrong.....).  Joe Hancock once patiently tried to help me, and, while he did it with a lot of grace, I was still left thinking "Sure, easy for you to say - your ancestors landed at Plymouth Rock!"

Now, about "The Alps' - what gives with that? Talk about a cheap conceit....

Sure looks to me like Buy-A-Ritz....which I'm all for as I find the crackers quite good when smeared with peanut butter or cheese.

I walked & driven around Merion – Not sold on it

I have no problem taking a cart anytime

I do not watch golf on TV other than recording the majors on Sunday and fast forwarding through them that night.

I think the concept of Bandon troubling when I look at the greens fees

I love the RTJ Trail in Alabama

When we play golf on our annual trip, all lost balls are played as a lateral hazard – keeps things moving.

The faster the greens the better.

I love yardage guides

I have played only a couple of Tom Doak courses (Legends in Myrtle Beach and Bay of Dreams) yet still feel qualified to say he is the finest designer in the business today

I credit some for the work of others

I am not 100% fluent in Spanish

I care more about West Virginia football than my work

I pretend to care about LSU football when I am with Jim Lipe  ;)

Mine:

I would rather play Pebble Beach then Cypress Point.

With that said, I have played Cypress Point more times than I deserve.

Shinnecock is too damn hard.

Quality golf in California golf doesn't hold a candle to Long Island.

Tom Fazio is a fairly nice guy and there are a couple of his courses I like.

I tend to agree.  But I've only been there once and played from the tips.  I just wonder if there are any tees that would make that doable for anyone but a scratch,

Hmmmm.. I think we're with them at the very top.  But they might have a few more very very great courses than us.  But either way, isn't "doesn't hold a candle" stretching it a bit too far?  I have to believe it's at least close.

I've never heard Biarritz or Redan in conversation either.  I can only imagine how badly yinzers like us could butcher those two words.

Depends on time of year anyway... starting about now and going through March, I'd sure as heck rather be in CA than either LI or Scotland.

OK maybe Scotland I'd take.  But courses need to be open to be relevant.

not sure how americans pronounce it but in europe, the town and rugby team are pronounce be-a-ritz. not sure how you pronounce redan though

I dislike scrambles and like shambles.

I like guys with crazy swings and pre-shot routines.

I have no issues with carts and like em on the replay.

I like par 5`s with ponds in front of the green.

I like cart girls who were torn between pole dancing and cart girl and went with cart girl on a coin flip.

I think the penalty for a lost ball and out of bounds should be the same as the penalty for hitting it in the water.  One stroke penalty and a drop where it went out or the last place you saw it before it was lost.
