BUDA IX (and X) Announcement
« on: October 19, 2010, 01:52:24 PM »
Gents,

A decision has been reached regarding BUDA IX (and X).

Next year we’ll be at Liphook as set out by Craig in this post:
There has been some progress on identifying venues for Buda IX. We (Mark Pearce, Peter Mallalieu and I) have two proposals on the table which require a fairly quick response. The clubs are putting together their diaries for 2011 and would like to have an indication from us within a week or so on reserving their courses for the Buda Cup. If you are interested in playing in the event next year, please post your preference.

1. Liphook GC & Hankley Common GC. September 28-30, 2011. Both courses near the Surrey/Hampshire border about an hour from Gatwick Airport
http://www.liphookgolfclub.com/
http://www.hankley.co.uk/

September 28 - 36 holes at Hankley Common with lunch, £108; foursomes in the AM, if time permits, 4ball in the PM, otherwise 4somes or greensomes
September 29 - 36 holes at Liphook GC, lunch and dinner £97, formats TBD
September 30 - 18 holes at Liphook GC followed by lunch £47, format TBD

A nearby hotel is available to accommodate all players: http://www.frenshampondhotel.co.uk/

In 2012 we’ll be at Silloth, dates (hopefully June) and 2nd course to be confirmed).

I’m sure Craig will post regarding deposits etc.

In July I will be riding two stages of this year's Tour de France route for charity, including Mont Ventoux for the William Wates Memorial Trust (https://rideleloop.org/the-charity/) which supports underprivileged young people.

Craig

Thanks for organizing next year's Buda.  If you need some help give me a shout.

I may be up for the Friday game if it is played very late in the morning.

Ciao

I'm in!

Just to confirm... the dates are SEPTEMBER 28-30, not October as listed... correct?

Once again, I nominate Peter Mallalieu as Euro captain.

Cheers!

If newcomers are allowed, put me down as in.  If newcomers have to wait for returnees to decline, put me tops on the wait list.

I look forward to a restoring America's pride and dignity in golfing circles.  I am contacting Sun Mountain as I hear they have some reduced prices on rain jackets.

It must be kept in mind that the elusive charm of the game suffers as soon as any successful method of standardization is allowed to creep in.  A golf course should never pretend to be, nor is intended to be, an infallible tribunal.

Sorry for the error on the dates. I corrected it on my original post but I can't touch the quote. The dates are September 28-30 (9/28-9/30/2011).

I'll start another post once we organize the payment arrangements. I expect we'll follow the same procedure as past years and ask for a deposit from those interested in attending.

Lynn - we look forward to newcomers. We usually accept players in the order that they commit but it always seems that we are a player or two short even after having more than 24 who have guaranteed that they will come. It doesn't matter; we always have had a grand time. Does anyone remember which side won this year? I've forgotten already.  ;D

Craig,

I have amended the original post to correct the dates.  I should have picked that up yesterday but was in a rush to get out to the theatre!

I'm in and suspect that Conrad and Giles will be as well.

Let's see. A match between Muldoon and Shackelford. We want the blow by blow!

There's nothing wrong with Sun Mountain jackets. I figure the spoiled cuppers didn't want to look like "they should be shooting layups".
