With the bump of the Operation Ferris Wheel thread and the subsequent link to the Pebble Beach Rabbit story, thought it would make sense to have a repository for the all time classic threads.  I'll start with the original Reverse Jans thread (http://golfclubatlas.com/forum/index.php/topic,21055.0/), which is probably what got me hooked on this site for the long run.

As I've only been a member of the site for a little under a year, it'll be a great way to get to read some of the classics that might have slipped into the crevices of GCA history.

Edited to include the two threads in the first sentence:

Operation Ferris Wheel - http://golfclubatlas.com/forum/index.php/topic,39817.0/

Pebble Beach Rabbit - http://golfclubatlas.com/forum/index.php/topic,18015.0/

Sven,

The above link is of Mark Bourgeois's thread on Royal Melbourne Composite.  I've looked at it a thousand times as RM is my #1 place to see outside the U.S.

GCA and the Pizza Man!  Somebody reminded me of it in the Ferris Wheel thread.  It's a great story, and the thread also has some very spirited discussion by GCA titans past and present.

Terrific idea. I'm not at my regular computer so I don't have the threads I've bookmarked, but I will try to edit them in later.

Some particularly strong threads:

John Kirk's The Time Is The Key thread

Tom MacWood's Bunker Quiz thread

Bob Huntley's thread on a profile in courage

-----

The threads I'd most like to rediscover are the really old - circa 2001-2 - threads where we first learned about the magical place called Garden City.

Eric Smith's thread on your home clubs.  I thought it was a fantastic topic, and I'm a little surprised it only went two pages.

I also had fun re-reading the first fantasy draft thread.  How about another one this fall?

The second edition (in light of the previous poster nominating his own...)

http://golfclubatlas.com/forum/index.php/topic,38096.0/

A few others (I'll try to dig up links later and add them):

TEPaul's reminiscences about Fireball Roberts and Daytona before it became the Daytona of today.

The great debate between Huck and Shivas (and others) about what actually constitutes an ace.

I've always thought Pat Mucci's views on combating cancer with more golf is one of the better written and thought-provoking essays on GCA.

This is probably my favorite thread that I started:

Is the pursuit of a natural appearance really only about the look?

I've always been kinda bummed it didn't draw out more opinions, especially from the naysayers. :)

Whatcha talking about George? You got the following response:

I think it is just a fad that may be in response to the high cost of diesel fuel.  To me a natural looking course is no more or less interesting than Stone Harbor.

A clear indication that you were spot on with your remarks.

I didn't book mark it, but Pat Mucci's reminiscences of his father.

I will second and third this thread.

Maybe we should have a yearly "Oscars" like vote and give awards to the best threads of the year??
